Friend suggested dinner here catch up some work colleagues from overseas. A Thursday nite, mostly men seems like a place city workers meet for drinks which meant too noisy for quiet dinner. Sat upstairs dining area by a fire that got extremely hot moved away...More

This place is consistently busy weekday lunchtimes and evenings, especially Friday evening. We visited on a Thursday evening and had drinks and dinner; Lamb Burger and Battered Fish and Chips washed down with glasses of wine. It hit the spot and we left fully satisfied....More

Dropped in with my son for a quiet post work day ale - lets call it an attitude adjustment session, before going off for a meal elsewhere. That is not to say the meals here are bad - they are actually very good but we...More

Had a great meal at Mitre today in the Steakhouse upstairs. The atmosphere was friendly and thankfully very warm with a blazing fire. Service was attentive and we soon had our meals... lovely freshly cooked bread cob with real butter. The lamb backstrap rolled in...More

Enjoyed a couple pints of Hargreaves Hill plus a sensational parmigiana. Lovely historic pub with a nice atmosphere. Seating inside and out plus fun trivia on Tuesday evenings. Thanks for the vote if you found this review helpful.

Good drinks at the oldest pub in Melbourne. Great atmosphere and company. Food is good. And never disappointed

If you’re in Melbourne and looking for an authentic British pub head to the Mitre Tavern. Outside of being unable to buy cask ale everything else (including the staff) is terrific.

The tavern began operating as a pub in 1868, making it one of the older pubs in Melbourne. Service was efficient, albeit a little brusque. The history and age of the pub is fantastic

Ordered wagyu rump ( understanding that half & quarter breeds can be called wagyu). Apart from (understandably) connective tissue around the muscle mass, there was unusually fine tendon throughout the meat mass. Steak knive was not very effective in cutting through ordered-rare steak. When discussing...More

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary
feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the
city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques,
throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air
