Crown Melbourne Poker Room Review: Still a must-visit for live cash poker players! No tournaments..
Location and Access: Crown Melbourne Poker Room sits at the heart of one of the world's most beautiful cities, Melbourne. The casino's prime location on the south bank of the Yarra River offers easy access from the airport and the city center. The poker room is conveniently situated and provides tablets for efficient waiting list management. Game Options: No tournaments have been running since the pandemic, but live cash games are thriving. Stake levels range from 1/3 to 5/10, with the flexibility to buy in for 200 big blinds. Service and Experience: Crown Melbourne offers a comfortable poker room with professional dealers and shuffling machines. It can be a bit dark and feel a bit cramped at times during peak hours. While service is efficient, everything costs money including non-alcoholic beverages. There are also time limits on play imposed due to past issues with gambling safety. Rake and Rewards Rake at Crown Melbourne poker room is high at 10% capped at $15 across most stake levels. Apart from the casino's rewards card, there are no bad beat jackpots or bonuses of any kind. Overall I would recommend Crown Melbourne as a must-see poker destination in Australia. It's well-run and great for cash game players. There is also plenty for a significant other to do around Melbourne while you hit the felt.

    Slipping Crown?
I come to Melbourne regularly for car & horse racing and drop into the Crown on most visits. I have noticed a steady decline in service & value which I put down to lockdown times & recovery since? The short answer I believe is that the cash grab to get back money lost has taken the value out of a visit. The minimum bets on roulette have been raised & the price of food & drink have risen sharply. Not to mention stupid rules blamed on RSA! I was in a 4 way shout on Saturday night and after fighting the throng at the bar to be served, I had to bring the other 3 to the bar before they would serve me!! The most stupidest rule I've ever encountered in a licensed premises? Thank God the pokies were paying otherwise I don't think I would bother in future!

The restaurant variety is good we have dined at most of the fine dining establishment here and the food and service was great however the casino just dosnt compare well to other casinos in Australia Macau or Las Vegas. Tables games are ok however poor variety of slot machines multiple of the same ones repeated throughout. It was surprising the clientel they were letting in the there that clearly did not meet dress or hygiene standards. I would visit for the dinning again however not the casino.

Went to the Crown, had a beer, got some money out at the ATM then realised we couldnt play the machines unless we signed up, went to the counter, waited in line, then was told to use the pokies we would need our passport as ID as we arent from Australia, who carries their passport around in another country?
So I saved a few hundred and instead we went and found somewhere for tea and never bothered going back.

Crown is in the process of change. They are changing the carpets, so exits aren't clearly marked as being unavailable until you get close to them, so have to back track. A lot of restaurants have closed down - Riverside (over a year ago), Margo's Cafe (it's still open, but the kitchen has closed - so it's only what's in the display fridges or pie warmer), Emporio has closed (see photo vhere it appears the staff that placed the sign don't know that hyperlinks don't work for printed documents_, a few of the restaurants on the upper level (same level as the cinemas).

The Teak area has been revamped meaning that the Teak restaurant is now the only restaurant on the main casino floor - but be warned...if it's busy, they will only let Members with a minimum Gold card go onto a wait list. I received an email invitation to experience Teak, but was turned away as they were busy - despite a third of the tables inside being empty.

Don't know what's going on at crown, but now your only options for food is the takeaway food court (cheapest option), the food court by the river (more expensive that most other foodcourts), or any of the restaurants and cafes along the river (your most expensive option).

At Metropol - they have changed the hours of the Pool as well. There's a tiny sign at the lift lobby before going up to your room. The new pool hours are 9am to 7pm. The gym area (right next to the pool) has longer hours.

The casino floor - well they have "new" poker machines there...and by new, they are only new to Crown Casino. I have played the same games back in 2022 at other locations around the country - and also within Victoria. If you are a pokie player, then for the newest games visit anywhere else OTHER than Crown!

Their rewards program has a birthday bonus if you visit in the month of your birthday - a glass of bubbly and slice of cake for up to 5 guests. This offer is only available at selected restaurants. Crown has closed all those restaurants - but still advertises the birthday bonus.

Such a disappointment that there's no communication about all these changes.

Was there celebrating a birthday and stayed 2 nights in Metropol. The hotel was great, as usual, but the Casino itself let a lot to be desired. I would much rather make a trip of it and visit another Casino in the country (Adelaide, or either of the Star casinos) than spend time at Crown. I suspect they have let things slide given their recent negative media attention.

We used to really enjoy coming here for the variety of great food outlets. But in the past few months there have been a string of closures.
Kitchen workshop buffet
San Antone grill
Mesh buffet
Rosetta Italian
Sho Noodle Bar - our favourite
Emporio pizza and pasta
Merrywell - no loss
Riverside restaurant
So unless you want to pay $150 per head at the Conservatory Buffet or get absolute rubbish in the food court, there is little choice. Even Margo's has gone down hill with little choice compared to 5 years ago. The new owners really need to understand what their target clients want.

Save yourself the trip!!!. Used to be a good night out when owned by Packer. Once the Americans bought it, pokie machines hardly ever pay out, minimum betting on crowded tables have increased ridiculously, the numbers of tables have decreased & been moved closer to allow more space for poker machines. Margo's used to be good food at reasonable prices, not any more. Kitchen Workshop buffet used to have good food & great value for money. Not any more. Even after Covid it was still good. Current owners don't care, they're only interested in people with BIG $$$.

A buffet at the Conservatory Crown Casino was very, very ordinary.Lacking table service, lack of hot food and a very sparse selection. With other fine buffets available in the city this was the least attractive. Disappointing.

FYI if you plan on playing any slots bring your passport unless your local to get rewards card. Major pain but only way to play at this casino
Definitely one of the largest casinos I've ever been in even in the USA
Tons of table games too on both levels

I payed a lot of money to stay in the crown hotel to come for the GP here with my family and we were in the casino. I was dancing with my father that I don’t get to spend much time with (I’m max about 4 drinks in, within two hours) and from my dancing I ended up getting walked out and barred from the casino for being “intoxicated” after 4 drinks over 2 hours.

Just because i wasn’t spending money in the casino on the tables and having a good time they got rid of me.

Horrible staff, horrible management and horrible treatment to their own guests paying top dollar to stay in there casino.

Appalling service and RSA management from one of the most prestigious casinos in Aus. How embarrassing.

Absolutely shocking experience. Crown Casino has gone drastically downhill in the last few years. Appalling service from top to bottom. Don't waste your time

Extremely disappointed in the "luxury experience". It started off good and it was downhill from there. If you complaint about rude security guards, be ready: there is retribution. Don't raise a complaint. Teak room is overcrowded, too many drunk noisy patrons, music is very loud. Mahogany room is quiet but not so many patrons play there, no winnings for months. VIP Hosts are hopeless, no one understands their "help" for patrons. Casino counts how many "free" drinks you had during one hour, the privileges room or not doesn't matter. VIP Hosts don't want to give food vouchers or free hotel rooms for high roller players in Mahogany. Hotel rooms look cheaper and older, Promenade feels like motel, in Metropol no slippers, no free bottles of water, in Villa Deluxe workers come inside villa without warnings. And now very long queue to get membership cards. Melbourne Crown doesn't compare to the other states Crowns.
