It is a great place for a picnic. It has extensive lawns and shade trees, is close to public transport and food stores, and is right in the heart of the city. I have been here for so many functions, formal, work related, and just for fun with friends.

Flagstaff Gardens date from the time before radio. Someone would look out for ships, when they saw one entering the port, they would raise the flag, thus Flagstaff Gardens. These days, there's still a hill, but now it's a place for city workers to have lunch and kick a ball.

Flagstaff Gardens is located in the west end of the city. Many workers from the legal precinct have a picnic, taking the opportunity to get some sun. The "lunch-time league" is popular with office workers, who like soccer. In days gone by, when communications were limited, ships arriving in port would signal to the man on Flagstaff Hill, who would in turn raise the signal flag. Flagstaff Gardens are a tad overlooked, but it's a good place to get a view of the Bay and the City

Amazing birthday weekend. Returning guest and this place gets better and better. Fantastic room on the 9th floor with views over the park. My wife and I just love this place with personal touches such as champagne and chocolates in the room to sumptuous breakfast. Will be back next year without a doubt

These gardens are the highest natural vantage point in the city. In the days of before radio, the flag was raised when a ship was sighted coming into port, so it was called Flagstaff Gardens. These days, the gardens are well-liked by workers from the nearby legal precinct , many of whom eat their lunches here. There are also sporting facilities for an informal "lunchtime league." Flagstaff Gardens isn't the most beautiful park in the city, but it's picturesque.

Nice gardens and, like all the ones I have been to, very well maintained. It is a pleasant walk just minutes from Queen Victoria Market ideal for a morning walk or to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city. I visited it in spring with many trees starting to flower, which gives it a prettier touch if possible.
I wouldn't say it's a must-see, but if you're looking for a bit of relaxation and you're in the area, it's an ideal place.

Flagstaff Gardens is a terrific place to visit. Great for a picnic, a jog, a walk, a run, meeting people, having fun or just to find a spot for some reflection. It's got lots of trees, beautiful plants, some sculptures and plenty of other features.

A welcoming green oasis in the middle of a busy city where one could unwind and escape from the hustle and bustle, walk your dog, have a picnic or just to sun yourself I. The middle of winter.

It’s a small park located away from the main thoroughfare so it’s very peaceful. The park is also well maintained and clean.

My mother, 4 year old son and I were on a first time trip to Australia, Melbourne was our first stop. We decided to have a quiet day and after brunch stumbled upon this beautiful park. We enjoyed the scenery, people watching and loved that there was also a Sikh festival (we loved seeing that diversity). Our plan was to go to the Queen Victoria Market and we lost track of time. However, we also fortunately stumbled upon the market since the park is close by.

Flagstaff Gardens is an elevated park on the edge of the CBD. The Gardens are so called becaue in the days of sailing ships, well before radio, an observer would hoist a flag when ship was observed entering the port. The Gardens are popular with city workers. Apart frrom eating lunch, they often kick a ball around. Flagstaff Gardens has some good features, but Treasury and Fitzroy Gardens are more scenic.
