The gardens are just beautiful and there is a lot of work to take care of them. I saw a lot of runners walking around and great artwork. It's a moat for people visiting Melbourne.

Whilst it was a dreary day, the scenery is the Botanic Gardens is absolutely stunning. Margaret and I didn't have near enough time to see everything but it was lovely and peaceful. I would suggest summer would be the best time for viewing pleasure.
This is my favourite spot in Melbourne for a walk or run. Beautiful at any time of day. On warmer days, it is also a great spot for a picnic.
Walk from the centre of the city or catch a tram down st kinda road and walk across the park. These gardens are large and varied. There is no entrance fee. Take a picnic and sit near the ponds or have lunch or morning tea...More
A friend and I recently spent an hour or so rambling around the gorgeous gardens. We thought this would be more fun and refreshing than walking the tan - which is also lovely - but it's definitely more revitalising wandering around all those beautiful trees.
A peaceful area with pools and lakes and wonderful planting include bamboos. A haven of tranquility in a busy city.
