OMG... I don’t really write many reviews, but I had to do it for this place, as I don’t want you to make the same mistake as me.
Overly priced with underwhelming experience. You pay $39 which includes the entrance and one cocktail. The place is small and I feel that my freezer is better decorated than this place. We would be better off staying home, watching frozen and make our own cocktails... very unpleasant experience.. we could not wait to leave.. #neveragain. PS. They don’t allow photos. As the charge their own.

There is many other cool places/bars to visit.

Hi Igor, we appreciate you leaving us a review as we value the feedback of all of our customers. We are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience in our Ice Bar as we do aim to ensure all of our customers leave satisfied with their experience. As your standard package does get you the renting of our snow-gear, a double shot cocktail and your entry into our Ice Bar we feel as though this is a reasonable price for a tourist attraction; these are standard prices for Ice Bars in places such as Amsterdam and New Zealand also. Regarding photos, we do not allow personal photography inside our Ice Bar as the quality does not do our Ice Sculptures justice; we also like to keep the mystery of our Ice Bar for other customers. As well as this just like every other tourist attraction we do charge for photos. The camera systems are actually owned by a separate company, therefore we don't have control over this rule or the pricing for the photos. With over 40 tonnes of hand carved ice sculptures inside we are saddened to hear you were not impressed. If you have anymore feedback on how we could improve etc please email info@icebarmelbourne.com as we would love learn from this. - Millie

Really not much to offer here in terms of entertainment or value. It's quite the tourist trap that you immediately realize once you walk in. You are only allocated 30 mins, but 10 minutes is ample. It is literally just a standard walk in freezer with a couple of ice sculptors and an ice block / bar with an unfriendly 'bartender' who comes out when your ready to order a drink. The 'cocktail' is only 30ml (half the required minimum amount) of alcohol filled with pre mixed fruit juice - for $15 that is outrageous and technically not even a cocktail.

They make the false claim not to use personal cameras as it will damage your camera. Yeah right. Just trying to profit off their photos they sell for $15. cameras operate perfectly fine in colder conditions like in the snow, no need to lie to us.

In summery not worth thew $30 admission, if you want a freeze kick save some money and just stick your head in the freezer and lick an icepole laced with vodka.

It was cool a cool experience but kinda boring...it was just me and my friend and then this other couple and the awkward bar tender who kept going out the back. No live band or food just a few games like connect 4 and jenga. The atmosphere was really...dead. We stayed for a little less than an hour. Very over priced...$39 just to get in and have 1 drink. No photos allowed except what you can PAY EXTRA for. Probably wouldn’t recommend sorry...

The Ice Bar has recently moved to Federation Square. It isn’t fully ready but that wasn’t made clear to us before we paid. There were ice carvings and that was cool but it basically had the ambience and the premixed cocktails were undrinkable.

So you go into a cool-room lined with ice, sit on a block of ice at a table that is a block of ice. Drink your tiny cocktail out of the plastic glass that's meant to look like it's made of ice. That's pretty much it. It looks great, but once you've had your drink, that's it (unless you want to sell a kidney and buy another tiny cocktail, or play Connect 4).
That was actually all ok, but my biggest gripe was that you weren't allowed to take your own photos. You were forced to use their own inbuilt, fixed location cameras and then pay $12 for each digital picture (if $15 if you wanted it printed out for some reason). Boring.
I think the backpacker staff might be on commission for the photos as they push them really hard.
You book it for 45 minutes but I'm not sure why you'd need that long. We were done after 15.

Hi, we're really sad to hear you didn't enjoy your experience at IceBar Melbourne. We aim to price our drinks and photos in line with other bars/tourist attractions in Melbourne and feel that $18 standard pricing for a cocktail. We do not allow personal photography/videography inside the bar as we like to keep an element of surprise for future customers, therefore limit photos to our stationary photo points. Similar to other tourist attractions we do charge for the photos and again this pricing is in line with other attractions around Melbourne. If you would like to share any more feedback do not hesitate to get in touch at info@icebarmelbourne.com Thank you, Charlotte (GM)

Extremely expensive experience. You might as well pop into the local bottle shop and walk into the freezer on a hot day. Sit down on a slab and have a cold one!

Thank you for leaving us a review, we value the feedback of all of our customers. We feel as though the experience we offer to our customers matches the concept of our bar which is that our customers have an experience in a bar completely made out of ice. With over 40 tonnes of ice inside, everything hand sculpted, games available, photo stations and of course our lovely staff to make the atmosphere and experience that bit more personal inside the only Ice Bar in Australia we are saddened to hear that you do not think that it was worth your money. The entry fee that you would have paid for the Ice Bar covers the cost of your entry into our bar, the rental of your snow gear and also a double shot cocktail valued at $18. - Millie

Look it is cool. The drinks are nice. I have done overseas and they were better. You can not take photos and they want to charge $12 a photo!!! Really data is not that expensive. That is after the cost that is expensive. They have a good product but need to not gouge people over the photo costs.

Hey, Thank you for your review, we value the opinions of all our customers. Regarding your comments on our photos we don't allow personal photography because the quality of mobile phone pictures will not do our Ice Sculptures justice. We have the professional cameras installed with certain specifications to capture the sculptures at the highest quality. Unfortunately as the systems are all put into place by a separate company we have no control over the price that is charged. I hope this clears up everything for you. Lucia ❄

Was an experience to be in coldness, but was very boring. They need to add some atmosphere. Was not worth the money when there was nothing to do and get only one drink. Could of had a better variety of cocktails. Don't think I will be back.

I visited Ice bar with 4 other friends and was pretty disappointed with the experience. First of all you weren't allowed to take your camera in with you which was disapointing because it was for my 30th so I wanted to capture moments with my friends. The staff offered to take photos but at an extra cost.

Secondly it was a really small space with fluro lighting- essentially it felt like we were in a cold storage room. There was no vibe at all...

On a plus- the staff were amazing and really friendly!

Hey Elisha, thank you so much for your review and positive comments on our staff! We don't allow personal photography inside because we like to keep the element of surprise for future customers; also photography on your phone doesn't capture the full effect of the Ice Bar like our professional camera's do. The room is 75 square meters, however with the ice sculptures inside it can look smaller! - Millie
