A very enjoyable walk early in the morning
While staying in Melbourne recently I went for a walk to Docklands to have a look around. It was very enjoyable walking around the area early in the morning. Just a few walkers about, plenty of great boats to see tied up in the marina. The place looked very clean and welcoming, Some arty stuff to see and some nice restaurants to eat at. Lots of high rise apartment blocks, I assume it is a nice place to live, they would get great views over the water and the city skyline. Interesting to watch the traffic slowly passing over the Bolte Bridge, Brought back memories of our past tough premier Henry Bolte. It was fantastic to see quite a few hot air balloons passing over the water and city. Only a few minutes walk from the main city, give it a try.

    Docklands Melbourne
A large shopping area with car parking and tram access. If your inside the CBD the tram is free to travel on. Lots of well know brand shops, coffee and eateries. ArtVo is great for the kids as is the ferris wheel. You can spend 2 to 3 hours qyite comfortably there

Quiet and Convenient Place to Stay
We spent a couple days in a condo in Docklands and we enjoyed the area. We had great morning and nighttime views of the harbor from our condo. The tram stop was right in front of our building and a convenient way to connect to Melbourne. Shops and restaurants were minutes away along with Marvel stadium. Worth considering a stay here if you want to get away from downtown.

Docklands is a nice enough area of Melbourne, but it's not as lively as the rest of the city. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and many other types of shops. There is the marina and the boats and there are some green spaces as well. It's nice for a walk around and to just enjoy the views.

Went into the docklands to visit the new Saboteurs Attraction in the East Car park with the kids. We walked into the shopping area for lunch and it is pretty ordinary, dirty we went yo subway and kfc and poor service. The attraction is not great either for $35 each save your money.

Perhaps it was the fact that we are coming out of COVID, or that it was a cool winters day…but I strolled through here on a Friday about lunchtime and it was dead. It has so much potential to be like Freo fishing harbour or Circular quay but it’s not there. Not a place I’ll be rushing back to I’m afraid.

Stopped by for lunch as part of our tour around Melbourne on a nice sunny day. Felt very residential but not that many people out and about. There were quite a few restaurants to chose from. Loved the vibe of the small harbor area as well.

Sadly Docklands has been well and truly Covided. Lots of vacant restaurants and few people wandering along what is potentially an excellent area for enjoying the views across the water. Only highlights are Cargo and Achelya Turkish, see sep reviews.
The Sunday markets were a complete fizzer- 5 stalls and no people. Don’t bother

We have been here a few times but we have struggled to see the large masses of people that often make a place! When we visited there was hardly anyone around although there are plenty of shops, including cafes and restaurants. We took a short walk and enjoyed the views and thought the area was okay. However, there seems to be something missing...

A review for the entire precinct of the Docklands. It is an interesting walk around the area, which contains a number of parks, a boardwalk, a couple of marinas, some shopping, a large stadium and the Melbourne Star.

As a local of Melbourne, Docklands is not somewhere you go unless you have to. It lacks soul and atmosphere. There are a few nice/ interesting art sculptures etc scattered around and an OK view....but it's high rise buildings, deserted cafes and not the bustling area it was intended to be. It's never really drawn Melbournians in like other areas have. If you're in the area, have a wander around, but don't expect too much. It's on the free tram route so hop off for an hour or so then head back to the CBD.

Great area with fantastic views down the river. A fresh walk to the office after breakfast and some great coffee cafes for a pick me upon the morning on the way to work. Central with good hotels overlooking city and waterfront.
