2018: Get away from the wharf area to this bohemian enclave. Has the potential to be a significant attraction but at the moment an interesting diversion from the usual touristy places. Dining for a range of pockets and good range of cuisines.

We decided to walk up Elizabeth St to North Hobart for lunch after hearing there was a buzzy "eat street" here. However found it disappointing, mostly Asian restaurants & a few average looking cafes. One full of cats (urgh!) so in the end we walked...More

Yes this area and especially the restaurant closed by 19:00/20:00 which is when most modern cities start to come Alive - similar I would assume to 40 + years ago elsewhere in the world Such a pity as this could so easily be rectified

North Hobart id the area just north of the CBD and Elizabeth Street is the main street. It has a variety of restaurants and cafes but nothing that appeared special. The more historic South Hobart area is more interesting.

North Hobart is like an eat street filled with a good selection of restaurants, cafe and bars. There is an arthouse cinema with many choices of movies to choose from and the seats in the cinema are very clean and comfortable. There is a lovely...More

North Hobart - specifically Elizabeth St is satiated with a huge arrangement of top-quality restaurants, coffee-shops and take-away restaurants. If you're hungry and/or thirsty, go no further. Pizza, Thai, Chinese, Italian, Fish, Vegan, Vegetarian, Bistro; it's ALL here.

Our accommodations happened to be a couple of streets up from this great, thriving area. I can see why this is definitely the place to go to eat in Hobart - our host directed us as well. It reminds me of Smith Street in Cobble...More

My partner's favourite type of food is Chinese, so we have been on a quest to find a great restaurant which we can enjoy regularly. We like the buzz around North Hobart's restaurant strip, and tried Mulan for the first time. It is comfortable with...More

It is one of the key entertainment and eating areas of Hobart. There are many good eateries with an extensive range of cuisines. There is also a couple of pubs and of course the State Cinema which shows excellent, non-american films.

North Hobart is a fantastic location to be based for a holiday. So many great places to eat, great coffee, close to supermarkets including Hill St Market and great kids playgrounds nearby. Easy to get into the city too.

Hi Helen, There are some good responses already but I will add some more so you can do some research. MONA if open on Christmas Day (need to check) at Berriedale has great food but I will say that their restaurant is pricey... More
