Interesting displays, especially the bushfire section. Some good hands-on experiences for kids. Nice to find somewhere that does not charge an entry fee. Worth a visit.

The museum has been remodelled and probably extended in what are historic buildings, now restored in an interesting and attractive way such that the collections are now displayed with more clarity and less clutter. The museum covers much of the history of the state and the gallery holds a significant collection of fine art.

Great combination of Art and History set out well to appeal to adults and children alike. We enjoyed seeing the early collonial paintings and the display about the extinct Tasmanian Tiger.

Must see museum - it's in two part. Free to visit. There is a little shop there too. The tree project which is on at the moment is a must see.

Spent the day here, coming in and out.. It was a wet day, and we spent our time looking around the museum, watching the boats come in from Sydney to Hobart Yacht race and checking out some of Taste Tasmania. Best part was it was free, managed to get a car park out the front where you had to pay... More

The art gallery guides were incredibly knowledgeable and really made our visit extra interesting and informative. The Tasmanian tiger story is compelling and so sad. The museum and gallery are free to visit and is a credit to yhe... More
