Our tour guide had the right story, but wrong delivery. Still a very interesting place to visit though. Shame so much was destroyed!

Very interesting tour. The Tench is a combination of gaol, chapel and courts and it is fascinating to see the remaining buildings and learn of the transition. It is a great pity that so much has been lost over the years or allowed to decay. What remains is fascinating. The tour guides are all volunteers and are both passionate and... More

Made reservations expecting a 45-minute guided trip through the building but it ended up being a drawn-out 90 minutes. Lots of information and history but the guide repeated herself many, many times trying to get the young kids to understand things that were beyond their abilities to comprehend. It's a shame that the site doesn't get more support to help... More

I tried to go on a tour here but outdated hours on their website meant that I arrived after it had already closed for the day. No one should ever have to email an historic site telling them that they need to update their hours on their website, much less someone visiting a city from another country. Extremely disappointed that... More

We booked in for a tour at $15 per person then the pandemonium film as well at another $15. The tour was at 2.30pm, then we had to come back at 5.30pm for the film which is really annoying. This should be done straight after the tour, not expecting visitors to go away and return. The tour was interesting, the... More

This place is only accessible via a 90min guided tour, the tour starts out a bit dull but gets interesting when they take you into the more interesting parts of the site, culminating in the execution chamber. You can take a selfie with your head in the noose - I can't believe I was the only one on my tour... More
