There are two other underground museums that are great too and easy to find but Toms is a real working mine! Excellent guided tour that was very well presented. See actual mining tools in action and get to learn how to use a divining rod....More

Our 3 children loved this interactive tour. They were allowed to have a go at the machinery, they jack picked an opal seam underground and got to fossick above. Our guide was patient, informative and genuine.

A great self guided tour that you can walk through and take your time with - the diving rods are good and the uv light surprising - prepare yourself for the fossicking "noodling" afterwards as it's addictive! We were there 2 hours unplanned!

No but you can pick through the tailings its a bit of fun take home some slivers of opal. Its fun and interesting.
