This was so much fun to check out - I loved rambling in the old mine - and hearing the thwack of people's hard hats (great idea to have to wear these!). The displays are a bit kitsch and old fashioned in some ways -...More

A great historical record from start to finish, those who discovered the mine, those who worked it, and the family who lived there,

The owner is a great character. Was good to go through a mine. The owner also turned on the blower outside for a demo. Worth a visit.

Interesting place, particularly enjoyed the demonstration of the blower used for mining opal. Lots of information in museum presented in a 1970-80s style. Not a flash presentation, more ramshackle in places but felt it gave a true, non sanitised flavour of mining pre modern era.
