Its a great view from Montefiore Hill and a great way to acknowledge the man who designed Adelaide with it's green belt all round.
Such a shame that a good part of the view of the city is blocked out by the buildings at Adelaide Oval.
Well worth visiting though and the remaining view really is marvelous.

Colonel William Light (1786-1839) was, amongst other things, a surveyor and military officer. He selected the site for the South Australian capital and surveyed Adelaide's renowned grid layout. He also set out the surrounding area, which became Adelaide's suburbs.Light helped make Adelaide the well-planned capital of a thriving colony, which later becasme the State of South Australia.

This spot is such a cute place to view some of Adelaide city. Overlooks Adelaide oval. When my kids were younger they used to go ice blocking here which was so much fun! There’s a beautiful old big tree that sits right on the corner. Several benches placed a good distance apart to sit and enjoy. Interesting history for reading at the statue.

On our way back from North Adelaide, we stopped at this little park. It no longer has a panoramic view, but it's looked after well and peaceful.

Visited on Thursday 27th February. I'm sure Colonel Light would be proud of the view now, to see how his plan has been used and adapted as the city grew. Yes the Adelaide Oval does block some of the view so I guess you need to go up one of the tall buildings to get a view of the whole city now. That's progress.

Nice little area to stop for a photo or two over parts of the city. I was probably more impressed with the statue of Colonel William Light, surveyor and designer of the city layout. It just has an imperious look.

When I went to see my specialist doctor in North Adelaide, I enjoyed visiting this little park after the appointment. It’s no longer serves as a lookout, but is a nice peaceful park.

Something to check out while waiting for attractions and museums to open in morning. Views used to better but now Adelaide Oval blocks “vision”

I love to visit this small park, when I go to North Adelaide. Although the Adelaide Oval dominates the view, it's a nice little park around Colonel Light's statute.
