Great museum. Has a fantastic and enthusiastic staff to help you. The gift shop is mostly local artists and loads of choice. The mammals of the world is fascinating and has some old taxidermy but still worth a visit. Children would love it! The first people's exhibit is great and has an amazing collection that the SA Museum appears to... More

I joined a Quirky History tour of the museum during History Week in SA. This was really interesting seeing a few of the more unusual or special displays and hearing not so well known details about them. Tour guide was good and I will do another tour of their more usual sort. Adelaide's museum is free entry everywhere and guided... More

If you are in town and want a free activity especially with kids then I would certainly suggest this as an option. Situated on the nicely updated North Terrace between the State Library and the Art Gallery, most will find something of interest and should enjoy their time there. If you like Aboriginal history / artifacts and those of the... More

I love most of the place. The bones and animal stuff are great!! Some stuff is a bit boring but it's still worth visiting.

The museum is a major institution of natural history and Aboriginal relics. I spent three hours and didn't manage to see everything. What I did see was exciting: different kinds of boomerangs that were centuries old, art work in the form of paintings, woven items, sculpted figures, and traditional weapons used in the Outback. Much more, but it was the... More

Quite a small museum - very busy on a Saturday morning BUT hardly anyone in the Aboriginal section. Is this how they are seen by the white Australians? This section was interesting and there is lots of good items on display

Well worth a trip, easy to find, close to Rundle Mall, helpful counter staff, excellent lunch menu friendly staff, gift shop interesting gifts, staff fantastic. Great place to take children, excellent signage all over, often a special exhibition is offered, "Yidaki" on now. I was fascinated to hear about Indigenous Australian culture. The Discovery Centre is the go to place... More
