We were surprised at how limited the collection is. We loved the aboriginal collection at the Art museum in Sydney and the MCA there as well. So after that found Adelaide a disappointment although there are some nice works in this smaller museum.

There's a lot going on in this gallery considering it's size. There's something here for everyones taste but I personally really enjoyed the room dedicated to Japanese art. The staff are friendly and welcoming and will point you in the direction of a particular interest....More

Went with my daughter for a school excursion - well worth it. Fabulous art and they even have special art classes/workshops for children once a month - free of charge.

This is a fabulous museum of Australian plus European art, beautifully displayed often by themes and with furniture and objets d'art of appropriate periods as well. Lots of gorgeous artworks, old and modern. Entry is free. Easy access Right next to the state library. Definitely well worth a visit.

The gallery contains an eclectic selection of art, beautifully displayed and thought provoking. We lunched at the restaurant, on a variety of shared dishes, all were very tasty and the wine list was excellent.
