The art gallery is set in a beautiful building, and it presents itself as a traditional European-style art gallery- which I love!!! The curator has done a great job with the space, from permanent to temporary collections and feature exhibitions. It's a good couple of hours spent. Highly recommend it!

I'm not one for art. I don't really get most of it, and even when it's explained to me I still go "ggguuuuhhhhh". But when I'm left to my own devices and can wander around on my own, I can look at art and at least try to enjoy it. And that's what I did today. Some magnificent paintings mingled... More

Not a huge gallery but nice to visit. We ate lunch at the cafe (outside) which was nice. Museum is close by.

Entrance is free of charge which is always awesome. Definitely a must see for art lovers everywhere, as there is a large collection of art.

Having been a regular visitor in high school days I don't think I appreciated it as much then as now, the collection is as varied as the people of the city and holds some wonderful contemporary and Indigenous works alongside the traditional formal landscapes and prtraits of days gone by. There are a couple of curatorial mishaps with works placed... More

I went here with a friend because I love art galleries and try to visit wherever I go. I felt totally underwhelmed by the majority of the art in the a gallery with such a grand name. If this is the best art that South Australia can accumulate for public consumption I can only assume that art is not a... More

Stunning works covering Hanniford from boy into middle age, in strength and virility through illness and stoic determination. Brilliant follow up talk by the artist to complete the man. The unusual use of video to capture life in the artist's studio is remarkable. Innovative gallery which also has a pleasant alfresco quadrangle, good food , and wine.

Eclectic collection with bold placing of modern with the old. Islamic, Asian and interesting 19th century work eg stained glass.

If you are into art or not this is the place to go. From modern to very old paintings that take you way back in time. I was very intrigued by the Art gallery as it's absolutely moving. The gallery itself is free entry however certain centre pieces would require tickets if it's part of a exhibition. Definitely worth it.

We spent a very enjoyable hour or two at the art gallery and really enjoyed the building, the layout, and most importantly, the art. Definitely worth a visit.
