We enjoyed a wonderful 6-day, 6-night sailing trip from the Whitsunday Islands with Captain John and Lynne. (Departing from Hamilton Island.) We chose this trip because of the 30 years of sailing experience of this lovely couple. Their knowledge of the reef is unmatched. Lynne is a certified Master Reef Guide (MRG), one of the few in Australia. She is also a gourmet chef. The trip was exhilarating and relaxing at the same time. We snorkeled 2x a day, seeing the most beautiful corals I have ever seen in addition to beautiful tropical fish and turtles. Although we did not see any sharks, our shipmates did see 2 on our trip. We ate delicious lunches and dinners. We saw the sunset and sunrise over the ocean. And we enjoyed the exclusivity of being with only one other couple on this beautiful 60-foot yacht. John and Lynne are delightful people. They work hard to make sure that all of your wants and needs are completely satisfied on your sail. If seeing the Great Barrier Reef is a priority on your Australian Trip, I highly recommend booking with Lynne and John. Cheers!

We spent a week with Lynne and John on Sydney Sundancer in August this year, my wife and I and our two boys aged 11 and 8. Communication with Lynne via email beforehand was excellent and told us all we needed to know about preparation for the trip. A ferry from Airlie Beach got us dockside in Hamilton Island Marina to meet John and Lynne. Our trip had us spending 6 nights on Sydney Sundancer which is a beautiful boat, comfortable and more spacious than we had imagined. The itinerary included visits to both popular and secluded spots; snorkelling off beaches and in bays and also a trip to the outer part of the Great Barrier Reef where we saw some fantastic displays of coral and wildlife. We snorkelled with all sorts of sea life including turtles and a fantastic selection of fish of all sizes. The kids were thrilled to spot a Dugong (a manatee) – only the second one John and Lynne had seen in 30+ years; we swam with and through a ‘bait ball’; swam with a massive Maori Wrasse and saw humpback whales breaching. We used the two kayaks on board and using the tender John dropped us of on several beaches to explore, included Whitehaven. One of the highlights of the trip was a 3-hour reef walk with Lynne on Langford Reef. That is a truly memorable experience which I don’t think is possible with many other guides in this part of the world. The fact that Lynne is so knowledgeable about shells was a huge plus for our boys who learnt loads, were totally engaged with all she had to teach them and loved the opportunity to see such a variety of shells on the reef. John and Lynne are lovely company and really go the extra mile to make the trip special. The itinerary was well very thought through – varied, packed but not over-busy. We still had time to enjoy being on board, the scenery, sundowners in a quiet bay. John and Lynne kept a constant eye on the weather and shifted the itinerary accordingly –the timing of our journey to the outer reef was chosen because it was in a favourable weather window which meant we had a lovely trip out and some fantastic snorkelling on the best reefs we saw all trip. We enjoyed the food on board very much. Lynne does an amazing job preparing lovely meals. Both lunch and dinner would be impressive if served in a restaurant, let alone a yacht. The one learning we had was that our somewhat-fussy 8-year-old is hard to persuade to try delicious food even in the Whitsundays and occasionally needed something a bit simpler! All in all, it was the trip of a lifetime. If you are looking for a way to experience the Whitsundays which is truly unique and allows you to see all they have to offer, you would be hard pushed to do better.

My wife and I had one of those "never to forget" experiences for 6 nights in the Whitsunday Islands with our wonderful hosts John and Lynne. Along with 2 other couples we got to see the Islands "up close" meaning:snorkelling with Lynne, an expert on the Barrier reef, great walks, swimming and generally chilling out. To cap it off we were presented with food of the highest quality by Lynne the "Masterchef!"

6 of us travelled to the Whitsundays for a weeklong birthday celebration. We had the most amazing memorable experience. Snorkelling was incredible, much better than anticipated. Thanks too to Albert the friendly Maori Wrasse. Reef education was excellent and the cuisine 5 star. Sailing was most enjoyable and relaxing thanks to the experience of Lynne and John. Thank you for a superb holiday.

Enjoyed 6 night aboard the Sydney Sundancer in July 2019 with my Aussie Friend. We where hosted by John and Lynn they were great hosts. The snorkeling was amazing and I really enjoyed the beach walks. The evenings where also great especially the clear night skies with all the stars. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a Great Barrier Reef experience.
