First of all - once you are in the rainforest (usually after traveling up the gondola as a tourist), you kind of feel obligated to do the Army Duck tour that actually does a short loop IN the rainforest. So we are glad we checked the box.

That said, the audio (i.e. the PA system the tour guide in the front of the vehicle uses to guide the tour) is AWFUL. None of the people in our group are hard of hearing and we could barely hear anything (loud enough but static-y and very muffled). Then when it started to downpour (should be expected in a rainforest), anything we could hear sounded like the teacher’s voice on Charlie Brown (inaudible by any human).

Also - the seats are rocks and the seats on either side get you absolutely soaking wet (which is fine if you are ready for it).

So - while you have to do it while you are there - try to sit in the front row in the middle for the best experience :)

Nice place to visit and get a feel of how things were years ago. What really made my day was the unbelievable size of the stag horns and ferns that grow in this part of the rainforest because all throughout Fraser Island the plant life differs immensely but blows you away.

Seriously good forest with massive kauris sheltering all the ferns and moss and streams. We only saw a bit on the way to Central Station campground, which was dark and damp because of the rainforest, not to mention just as noisy and crowded as its namesake train station.

Visited on Friday 24th February. Our guide took us for a walk through the rainforest, pointing out the different trees there as well as info on how the rain forest grows and the impact of logging trees, well worth the experience.

When we went on our tour it rained and we got absolutely drenched but that’s what made this rainforest experience magical. Beautiful, serene and breathtaking place to stop and get back to nature.

Thick and thin bush on this guided tour along safe paths. The tree heights are stunning and you can see lizards, birds and small creeks. Don;t forget the mosquito repellent.

We visited the rain forest as part of our all day tour and for me it was the highlight of the day.

So lush and serene. Make sure you get there as part of your visit to Fraser.
