A great place to visit the for an hour or so during the NQ heat. You will see a living coral reef will all different species of fish. You will also have the opportunity to see a baby crocodile. What a fantastic place, a visual wonderland with education thrown in for free, which was informative, funny and relaxed. The staff and volunteers were great, very helpful and had enough time to talk to us. We took our teenage children who also loved it, they were particularly impressed with the research that the aquarium carry out.

A very interesting feature is the diver among the Sharks (obviously tame ones). In the auditoriums the group (mainly children) was able to communicate with the diver. A volunteer is giving a lecture on what is to see in the largest of the aquaria. A visit to see the Turtle Hospital is also possible at certain times. The whole Enterprise... More

It has been years since I have been here and the aquarium is still a very informative place to see. It has a very large live reef teaming with all sorts of fish. There is also a turtle hospital that can be visited. They had two currently being returned to full health.

The reef hq was a good time filler. We were there for about an hour and a half and the kids got over it (they are 9,7 and 4). Go on a day where they feed the sharks. That was entertaining. The kids loved the Dino exhibit next door at the museum more.

This is a fabulous attraction for both young and old. The aquarium contains the largest living coral reef in the world. Giant panoramic windows enable you to walk through a glass tunnel which feels like you are beneath the ocean surface amongst colourful tropical fish. Display cabinets house living marine specimens and touch screen information provides all the information.

While that sounds massive, we were a bit underwhelmed by the size. Having said that, this is worth a stop. You can walk thru plexiglass tunnels and observe the various fish swim about you. They have a turtle farm. They are trying valiantly to help keep and restore the GBR, Great Barrier Reef. Great place for children to visit as... More

I found there to be very little options for things to do in Townsville, however, we had a nice afternoon in Reef HQ. The coral reefs there are absolutely stunning and it is a treat to see them looking healthy. The staff are very knowledgeable and I enjoyed the talks. The turtle hospital was very rushed though because it was... More
