Immerse yourself in the Townsville way of life and discover The Strand, Townsville's thriving beach foreshore! The two and a half kilometre walkway offers spectacular views across to Magnetic Island and is popular for runners, walkers and kids with bikes and scooters. Enjoy the ocean breezes with a meal at one of the restaurants or cafes there. Alternatively treat the whole family to a barbecue or beach picnic. With a number of fantastic playgrounds and the popular Strand Water Park, The Strand will keep the kids entertained for hours. Take a swim in the ocean or the rock pool, test your balance on a Stand-Up Paddle Board or land on the beach after the adrenalin rush of skydiving! Enjoy the shade of the palm trees with a good book or grab a gelato and just enjoy the stunning views. For fishing enthusiasts, the jetty is a great spot to cast a line. At the end of The Strand, discover Jezzine Barracks and uncover the stories of Townsville's settlement. Learn of the regions significant military and indigenous history and enjoy the outdoor art.

    Great for a stroll, jog or scooter ride. So many attractions for kids too
    Along the 2.2km stretch I saw some outdoor water pools and water playgrounds. A number of playgrounds, benches and facilities such as toilets and bike storage or scooter points. Plenty of cafes and shopping all along here too. Scenery is great. Not much of a beach though

    Vibrant atmosphere
    So vibrant every day with people walking dogs, exercising, enjoying the water side cafe’s. Love the atmosphere! Both day and into the evening. I was lucky to visit during the Ephemera Art sculpture festival and the artwork was awesome.

    Great spot with so much to do!
    Great place to visit if in Townsville! Heaps of bars, restaurants and coffee shops along the strand- with lots of different cuisines! Lots of parking near-by so easily accessible! Would highly recommend taking a walk across the jetty to see the incredible islands in the distance!

So much to do in one location

The Strand has so much to do all along it, we loved the Rockpool the kids had a wonderful time and knew they were safe swimming in there. The large amount of playgrounds were a great hit and such a beautiful location to have a play at too.
The splash water playground was a popular location, and loved the amount of tables and shade around and the different water play areas were fantastic for a free water playground.

Great service and room with a great view of the Strand. Everything worked and parking secure. We will go there again in 2024. Close to shops and walks outside the front entry.

Great spot with so much to do!

Great selection of restaurants and park activities for all. And a selection of beaches and the rockpool for swimming. Grab a scooter if you get too tired on your journey

Plenty of cafes and shopping all along here too. Scenery is great. Not much of a beach though

Walking the Strand

Beautiful well worth the visit.
We loved walking along the beach.
Watching the people swimming and there is a lifesaver.
It's a good long walk if you want.

Croc spotting at strand

I’m quite disappointed with the lack of crocodiles.. there were warning signs of them but didn’t saw any…. Looks like i made my trip for nothing. I will ask for a refund for my traveling

The Electric Scooters are a Tourist Rip off

The Strand is a fantastic locality BUT the electric scooters are a TOURIST RIPOFF

We paid $19.83 for 32 minutes use and covered only 5.28 km. Sadly there was 2 of us so the rental was just under $40.00. A taxi would be cheaper. These charges are a disgrace as the strand lends itself to the scooter use but the costs are prohibitive and explains why mostly the scooters lay around idle . Surely someone can fix this . Greg
