Peaceful, quiet with breathtaking view. Drive (5-10 mins) or hike up the mountain (1 hr plus or so).

Go on a drive up the narrow bitumen road to the lookout and you will not be dissapointed as this view is excellent and there are plenty of walking tracks to entertain you and well and information boards

Great views of Rockhampton. The metal walkway is amazing. Great place also for a picnic. Well worth going to especially on a clear day.

Went to three different lookouts with varying degrees of satisfaction. Grass Tree lookout is surrounded by trees, so all you see are the trees and very little else. Sleiper lookout is a journey of 1.2km over mostly very rough surface, so good footwear is essential....More

Driving to the top of mountains is always the goal of the lazy hiker. Here, resplendent with abandoned cars is the park that is Mt Archer. Still, for two kiwis, it had lovely views of the surrounding countryside here in the tropical north.

We really liked our excursion to the mountain top, although we cheated by drining up. Views were wonderful. This is a good place for a high quality cafe, where you can have a coffee and pastry after all the tromping around trails.
