LOVE IT

The free zoo, the walk around the gardens. Lovely food in the cafe and reasonably priced. Check out the animal talks, take a picnic or just relax on a blanket in the shade.

Enjoyed the peaceful gardens. Easy enough to walk around. Open till 6pm. Large enough that you can enjoy some quiet time

Location is nice, animals seemed a bit slow and unwell, signage is not the best. Food was not good and chairs and tables are all broken. Play ground lots of items where closed for repairs or damaged. Loved the Japanese Garden always looks nice. There was a lot of rubbish around the animal enclosures.

Went to the Gardens - astounded that such beautiful gardens exist outside a capital city- and it backs onto great wetlands. So good birdwatching in the grounds, at the lagoon and connecting lagoons and in even in the scruffy areas probably outside the gardens on the edge, near the lagoon. Would like to have had time to actually look at... More

As far as I could judge the gardens were extensive and interesting. However, for anyone of compromised mobility a little assistance or care is required. The signage in the facility is extremely poor and where it exists it is sometimes confusing. The paths are somewhat tortuous and a little uneven.

Even though the zoo and gardens is a little small, but each exhibit was well maintained and pleasant to be in. I could see that a lot of effort was put into this place, along with the important conservation movements that would not have been possible with the zoo and gardens. Keep up the good work! Will pop by again... More

Great place for a relaxing visit when in Rockhampton...under renovations when we went there but tropical gardens were relaxing and the zoo animals appeared well looked after... and the monkeys are very inquisitive! Cafe on site to enjoy a coffee as well!

Mum-in-law's favourite place. Have access to wheelchair and enough activities to entertain the young and old (playground, cafe, free BBQ area, zoo, gardens, feeding ducks etc)

Beautifully kept gardens with lots of variety, topped off by the fabulous Banyan trees around the Kiosk which provide a lovely shady spot to have a snack or meal.

The gardens are worth a visit and the turtles in the lake are very sweet. However I would suggest that the zoo houses animals that would be better in their own environment.
