We went on the Kuranda railway trip which was a great journey with amazing views of some great waterfalls and ravines. Then returned by the Sky Rail which is awesome, this carries you over the top canopy of the rainforest a brilliant ride.

I have just come across this review on the Internet. I am the Chief Executive Officer of Kuranda Heritage Rail and wish to bring Sarah's attention some facts which she seems misguided about. As a Tour Coach Operator we coordinate tours between Kuranda Village, Skyrail & the Kuranda Scenic Railway (KSR). Each attraction is individually operated. Regarding the fares mentioned in Sarah's review the price for the KSR was $A49 per person. The fare for Skyrail was a further $A49 per person. The price of the return transfers by our Coach was $A31 per person; Total $129 per person. In accordance with KSR & Skyrail terms of travel where a person has not completed a journey on the particular attraction the fare will be refunded (This was done for the Skyrail component). The KSR component was completed and therefore no refund was given. With regard to Skyrail where the system is closed due to weather or other factor Skyrail has an Emergency Management Plan which prohibits a Tour Coach Operator from returning Skyrail passengers to their destination. This is implemented by Skyrail to ensure all passengers are accounted for & to allow an uniterupted Coach Service. Skyrail also provide each passenger they return with a Voucher providing a Credit for the $A49 fare applicable. Regarding our transfer we provided the service to KSR & were prohibited from returning Sarah. Our coach was located at Skyrail waiting to return our passengers but I again reiterate WE WERE PROHIBITED FROM DOING SO. Our Driver / Tour Guide did remain at Skyrail until all our passengers were returned by Skyrail in accordance with Skyrails conditions of travel. We have not control over the Skyrail system it is closed wenever there is any risk to passenger & weather (Thunderstorms) are a serious threat to passenger safety. We are always sorry when this occurs but passenger safety is alway our primary concern. Of the three (3) components of the tour we coordinate two were provided and the third (Skyrail) was refunded. It is very unfair to blame a Tour Operator for actions taken to ensure Passenger Safety. Should Sarah return to Cairns we would be happy to provide Coach Transfers for any of our tours Free of Charge.
