Beautiful place to snorkel. Loved our submersible experience on Great Ocean Cruises too. Bird refuge there is interesting but we pretty much stayed in the water & didn't spend time on the beach.

My wife and I recently vacationed in Australia. Who goes to Australia and does not snorkel the Great Barrier Reef? I believe the company we used was Ocean Adventures. Great company. Michaelmas Cay is the worst. Fist of all, it a bird sanctuary with literally...More

The tourist brochures and photos online sure do a good job of playing up Michaelmas Cay! In reality, it is a bird sanctuary and nesting ground where hundreds of birds stop during migration and to lay their eggs. The majority of the cay is roped...More

It was cool to go to the cay but the reef was in bad shape. The colors were full and lack of fish compared to alternative reef locations

We Snorkeled and I Scubadived here as part of a reef tour. The site was good (better than some others we had tried) with coral and fish visable with normal snorkling equipment although mostly still 3m+ deep in the water. Didn't get to see any...More

Breath taking place the sand is exquisite and the sea is so inviting. It is a paradise for snorkeling and scuba diving. Do not miss.

Well worth a day out with Scuba, Snorkeling and fishing. The lunch provided was delicious and this was topped off with a glass of Sparkling at afternoon tea tim.

It seemed to take forever to reach the cay but it was an easy snorkel from the small beach that allows people as most of it is protected for the birds. The day we went the water was a bit murky but we did see...More

we went here using Passions of Paradise and it was incredible, beautiful , well worth the visit. Take care to listen to your operator who takes you there as it has protected birds and you must not venture in certain areas. Many do not listen...More

This sand cay is beautiful. It has got a protected bird sanctuary on it. When you arrive there by one of the day tripper tours, they let you snorkel around amongst the beautiful reef. You can see lots of fish and turtles. You can also...More

Unless you are snorkelling there is literally nothing to see except a very very small strip of sand with a zillion birds on it. All the boats I saw going out there including the one I was on are all moderately paced, packed... More

You would not want to pay for one that focuses (and includes snorkeling and a dive for a little extra) - and that is what we did and I agree with Claus - what a shame to bypass the opportunity!
