Corals are healthy, some are bleaching. We did scuba dive with Passion and found around 2 turtles, and lot of fish. Happy day and worthed to go for diving or snorkelling. The water was clear blue and turqoise, so wonderfull 🏖

We travelled out to Michaelmas Cay on Passions of Paradise (see my separate review). It was a little choppy, and a bit wet, but that really didn't matter because the Cay is reasonably protected from the swells, and with the rain, well, we were already...More

We went out to Michaelmas Cay on a day trip to the reef. It is basically a lump of sand in the middle of nowhere lol. Lots of birds nesting and flying around. Snorkelling was beautiful! Lots of neon fish, large parrot fish, huge sea...More

This place is amazing snorkeling. We took our kids there and we all loved it! We saw humongous coral, clown fish, sting ray, turtles, really everything we hoped for!

We visited Michaelmas aboard the Ocean Spirit out of Cairns. I hadn't done enough research to know that there would be no vegetation (not a tree, not a blade of grass) on the little sand bar we disembarked to, so it was a little disconcerting...More

A great place and a great experience with "Ocean Spirit". If it's the first time that you visit Cairns you have to go there. The food on the boat is great and also the crew is lovely

The boat trip was very pleasant and the crew were friendly & helpful however we were hugely disappointed when we got to Michaelmas Cay. Whilst the cay was unusual in a good way - it is a very small sand island inhabited solely by birds...More

A very relaxed trip to the cay. Enjoyed an underwater look at the reef in a submersible. Had a beautiful lunch and then a short boat ride to the cay. We snorkeled amongst the coral and hundreds of fish and then lay on the beach...More

Ok, but not really worth the 2 hour boat ride. Sea sickness medication is highly recommended. At a rough estimate, 90-95% of the passengers were vomiting. Visibility underwater was 8-10ft. This is average for the reefs that can be reached from Cairns in a day...More

Unless you are snorkelling there is literally nothing to see except a very very small strip of sand with a zillion birds on it. All the boats I saw going out there including the one I was on are all moderately paced, packed... More

You would not want to pay for one that focuses (and includes snorkeling and a dive for a little extra) - and that is what we did and I agree with Claus - what a shame to bypass the opportunity!
