A tiny beach right in the middle of the sea, surrounded by reef & birds. Stunning. I visited with a snorkel tour - not all go here. I went with Seastar. I have never seen anything like this. Just beautiful.

Went here with Seastar Cruises as our first snorkel spot. Beautiful untouched beach, tons of birds and great snorkeling. Saw a turtle and tons of colorful fish.

We took a tour with SeaStar Cruises out to Michaelmas Cay. It was about an hour off the shore of Cairns. Michaelmas Cay is just a large sand bar in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef. It is home to many birds. Our ship...More

A beautiful white sandy beach and surrounding blue ocean. The cay is teaming with a variety of seabirds that make lots of noise (songbirds they aren't). The surrounding water is also a great place to snorkel, with colourful corals and other marine life.

This is an excellent location to visit. It is a sand island about 20km from Cairns. Most of t is designated as a bird sanctuary so thee are literally thousands of birds on the island. Many different species. Also a great location to snorkel/dive.

My life list trip to the Great Barrier Reef did not disappoint! Lots of fish and beautiful color! We traveled on the Seastar tour boat, and everything was first rate. It wasn't too crowded, and the lunch was tasty.

Unless you are snorkelling there is literally nothing to see except a very very small strip of sand with a zillion birds on it. All the boats I saw going out there including the one I was on are all moderately paced, packed... More

You would not want to pay for one that focuses (and includes snorkeling and a dive for a little extra) - and that is what we did and I agree with Claus - what a shame to bypass the opportunity!
