I did a morning walk here with my wife. There was plenty of parking and the tracks are well posted so you dont get lost. There are some flat sections in amongst the hills.

Went for a bush walk here and although I did get lost and turned my joke into a two hour one, I absolutely loved this forest! Start at the Toohey Picnic Area as there's good parking and walk through the beautifully maintained grounds.

I visited Toohey Forest on a recent trip to Brisbane. In fact I used to live in Nathan which is adjacent to the forest. As a child I walked through this forest to go to school. Its great that this forest is only 10km from the CBD, and contains 260 hectares of preserved forest vegetation. It name was derived from... More

Well it was a hottie so a picnic was created made from vege patch offerings and a cold bottle. There are picnic tables at the lookout but we chose to take our own camper chairs a collapsible table and the Esky. Plenty of parking even when a car club turned up. It was remarkably cooler up there which was a... More

There are some great walking treks through here. Lovely to get into the bush so close to the city. There are also covered picnic areas and bbqs for use which is great. Several times we've packed our bacon and eggs into an eskie, gone for a walk and then cooked brekkie afterwards. Lovely way to enjoy nature.

Who can guess it, a beautiful nature national park right in the middle of the city. Bush walking here is just wonderful on the weekend. Make sure you wear fully covered shoes. May be a bit of insects repellent would be ideal.

Toohey Forest is a nice expanse of bushland on Brisbane's Southside that straddles about 4 suburbs (Mooroka, Nathan, Salisbury and Tarragindi . Toohey forest also boarders Griffith University (Nathan Campus). There are a number of trails for hikers, it is also used extensively by mountain bikers. Hikes are pleasant and the forest is worth a visit. Tourists (and anyone really)... More
