    Thank you! Loved our visit.
Amazing to visit! Learnt a lot about opals from Misha who was so knowledgeable and fun. Then watched Bryce do a great job polishing 2 opals and got to take one home with the Gold Class tour. Couldn’t help buy a ring from the shop either. 🥰 Very helpful. Thank you, especially Misha & Bryce. 10/10

    Opal museum and store
A good place to know more about opal. There is a small area to see more about opal in the museum, the staff are friendly indeed and they take pains to educate kids on stones! You can buy opal in the showroom and also polish your own stone for 50$. All in all a good place to spend an hour!

    Great hidden secret in Brisbane!
From the moment we walked in the door, we had a positive experience, greeted warmly by Stefanie, who also gave us the tour. She was friendly, personable and very informative! The displays are interesting, well-labeled and varied. There's a great little library too! Of course the gift shop is impressive. Overall a wonderful afternoon! Highly recommend it!

    Fascinating Australian Opals
Fascinating look at Australian opals. Our guide, Tori, was knowledgeable and fun. The specimens and photos were very interesting and the shopping was great. The women there were very patient with us as we picked through a large variety of stones. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience all around. I ended up having a private guided tour with Stefanie as no one else booked for the time slot and I can't recommend her enough! Very friendly and joyful with undeniable passion for opals. I had no prior knowledge but she can go as scientific as you'd like! She even told me a bit about aboriginal myths related to opals. If you go during a weekday you can also watch the on-site jeweller at work. Highly recommend.

Great selection of opals, fascinating history, friendly staff
A really engaging museum with a short introductory film about opal history and mining and types, and a nice sequential history walk through of the museum. The owner of the museum also owns an opal mine and their store has an excellent and reasonably priced array of stones and jewelry. The staff are uniformly friendly and helpful and the co owner Geoff even kindly came out to chat; their passion for opals was infectious! A cool feature is that for certain hours they will allow you to pick out rocks and then they polish them to bring out the best of the embedded opal. We ended up buying some excellent pieces, really satisfying our desire for many years to travel to Australia and get some great opals almost direct from the mine. And really happy to do so from this engaging and friendly team!

    Excellent staff, collection, and experience!
Thank you Bryce and Tori for an awesome experience! They were very helpful, friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The polishing/cutting was so cool to watch and Bryce explained what he was doing with the different wheels etc. The tour of the museum was great, with an amazing collection! Thanks again!

Really special place dedicated showing off a special Australian product.
I actually visited during 2017 but remain on their mailing list and have purchased jewelry remotely from them including this month. It's a great place to visit and a reliable place to do online business with. If the only thing you know about opals is the case of totally identical stones in your department store, you haven't seen a real opal. They are astonishing, each is different and you can learn a great deal about them if you get a chance to visit this museum. See the kangaroos and the koalas but also see the opals.

Excellent value for money and excellent guided tour, it's well worth a visit.
Excellent friendly, informative tour provided by Tori at the opal museum how gave us a wonderful chance to learn about opals including how they are formed the different types etc. She made the topic very interesting. We also met one of the curators Valentine who was also very informative and showed us examples of opals in their raw form as well explained the highs and lows of opal mining. This is well worth a visit. You also get a chance to buy your own opal and see it transformed into jewellery or polished stone if you wish. We spent about an hour on the tour.

A large location and a nice small collection of opals. Staff were so welcoming and lovely. Understandly the jewellery is pricey but not to worry theres something for everyone as they have cheap offcuts you can buy and still enjoy a bit of opal magic!

I decided to have a look in here, as I were curious to see what was behind the glass and the doors. I was pleasantly greeted, and introduced to the owner. I found the lady very professional and informative, she showed great passion towards her opals. I learned a lot during my visit. Will return to admire the beautiful opals.

A truly amazing experience visiting this place. Everyone in the staff were so helpful and friendly, Peta, Susie and Tori who made us feel welcome when we entered the shop.

The shop has so many unique beautiful pieces of opal, and Geoff helped us finding just the right piece for my gfs birthday.

A speciel thanks to the awesome Bryce for an entertaining introduction to the world of opals and for his passionate stories and service which left me with a breathtaking polished piece of opal. I would definitely recommend visiting this place - the museum for a walkthrough a large collection with colourful and breathtaking opals and other rocks, and the shop where you can find your own unique piece of jewellery.

Great private museum! We did the self guided tour and was surprised to see it came with an iPad that you can watch videos about the items on display as you go round. They were very informative and interesting. We went on the weekend so missed watching in person the staff working with the opals. The only downside is I would have like to have been able to purchase a souvenir but unfortunately most items were outside of my price range. They did clearly display the prices so I appreciated that which I’m sure would save some embarrassment.

Loved it! We paid for the Gold class tour $195 for up to 4 people and we got to cut and polished 2 gem stones ourselves and get to choose to keep one, we liked both so bought the other one as well, check 'em out! We give this place a big thumbs up, highly recommended this particular tour.

Wow. We love opal and made the trip out to Windsor which is less than 15 minutes by train and a very short walk. The museum is only $10 to see and easily worth the money. There is a great selection of opal types, rough stone and a working jeweler on site. You can choose your own rough boulder opal and watch them shape and polish to take home. The jewellery is amazing and it was hard to drag the wife away. Great experience thank you.
