Lovely museum if you like geology and pretty things
A very nice little museum, easy to reach by train or car. Lovely staff who is very helpful. Very informative about the science and history behind opal formation in Australia and beyond! I bought some cute little souvenirs but they also have gorgeous opal jewellery if you are looking for a stunning piece

Loved it! Give this place a big thumbs up.
Loved it! We paid for the Gold class tour $195 for up to 4 people and we got to cut and polished 2 gem stones ourselves and get to choose to keep one, we liked both so bought the other one as well, check 'em out! We give this place a big thumbs up, highly recommended this particular tour.

Woth a visit if you are interested in opals
We stopped in with the idea of learning about opals and purchasing one that was not set (we are mineral collectors). We took an uber to the museum which is away from the central riverfront area and pretty much had the small place to ourselves. The staff was helpful and they put a lot of effort into this small museum. Overall, if you are an opal fan it is worth a top.

Learned so much about opals that we did not know before.

Gave us an appreciation for the complexity of the gem and wonder at the special conditions necessary for it formation

We also did not know all the difficulties in mining these gems.

Well worth a visit
