Southbank is an oasis in the city where you can stroll around and see the birdlife of Brisbane. It is an ideal meeting place and smaller kids like to swim at the lagoon there.

Brisbane is a lovely city. Southbank is a terrific day out for visitors. Ride your bike or walk. Enjoy the river and have a picnic. Most of the year the weather is lovely and the pool water is always warm. Great day out.
Went into the South Bank a few times during our week in Brisbane....lovely area, full of restaurants and pleasent river walks, nice market on Saturday and Sunday.
I remember Southbank prior to Expo 88 and being amazed at the changes then, now... wow! It looks great and offers so much variety. Also great to see some Expo artifacts preserved.
