King George Square is a large public square and available for corporate events, festivals, concerts and exhibitions.

Underneath is the location of the bus station.

Far too bland looking, and too much concrete. The allocation of more green spaces would improve this square in the CBD which is already full of too much concrete.

Difficult to enjoy the attractions, most of the Square barricaded for a Telstra Exhibition. Not sure if a lion statue has been relocated again but, in any event, both are still there although not in their original position on sandstone plinths on either side of the George V monument. Took a few photos of other monuments and headed elsewhere.

Located in front of City Hall and regarded as Brisbane's primary square. Originally Albert Square, it was redeveloped and renamed King George Square following the death of the king in 1936. it was further redeveloped and reopened in 2009 after construction of the busway station underneath. Not sure what was there previously but now its a broad expanse of concrete with minimal seating or shade but there are various monuments that do add interest.

What were they thinking when they designed and built this place - dark stone that traps the heat and stings the eyes - no shade - does not fit with the surrounding City Hall

Nice place to hangout and walk thru the history. There are some monuments in front of the building, the clock tower itself are such a historical place.

Near the Queen’s mall King George Square has the city hall building and statues as well as restaurants at edges of the square. A nice place to wonder through and or s the clock tower building / city hall.

Used mostly as a pedestrian thoroughfare .. King George Square , has more going for it

The wide open area of King George Square .. is located out the front of the dominating Brisbane City Hall

Above Brisbane City Hall is the outstanding Brisbane Hall Clock Tower

Within the square , there’s the totally impressive - Petrie Tableau … this sculptures & monument , honours the early history & settlers of Brisbane

Plus there’s the equestrian - King George V Statue

This is a public square that is located in front of the City Hall. Originally this was Albert Square ( named after Queen Victoria's husband) and incredibly it was the site of the 1912 Brisbane general strike. Over 15,000 trade unionists held a march in Market Square after being refused a permit to protest, on the orders of Commissioner Cahill, the police charged and attacked peaceful protesters, in what became known as 'Black Friday'.

Following the death of King George V in 1936, the square was widened to include the area which had been Albert Street, and renamed King George Square in honour of the King. The bronze Lion sculptures, guard the King George Square entrance to the Brisbane City Hall.

It's an amazing square with a feeling of a safe space between the major streets in the shadow of the hall. ( Not literally a shadow- shade is not prevalent in the square) ... but it's certainly worth stopping at to look at the statues and of course to visit the nearby hall.

Came through here to go to the Museum of Brisbane and later see the light show on City Hall, there are a few eateries around and it's a large open space with a generally nice feel.
