Went to go but the idiotic rule of "no dogs" keeps Aussie family's like ours away. Well done, another National Park tragedy for the country.

We really enjoyed traveling out of Alice to glen Helen and the stops along the way. Beautiful and fun to swim as well. We swam at Edy watering hole which was great. However glen Helen was not much. Good for an ice cream or coffee stop. Better to take your own food and of course plenty water.

This is the first year World Expeditions (WE) has offered the 9 day Larapinta option. We joined the 4th and last for the season in mid-September. Before signing up we did a lot of research on the various companies' 6 and 9 day offerings, concerned about temperatures and the reputed toughness of the trail. With some trepidation we took the... The trail managed by the National Park is a great walk about 200 kilometers. It runs very close to human habitation, roads etc which makes it accessible to those who want to walk a few km or a few days.

In September I completed the "End to End" Larapinta Trail with Trek Larapinta. What a great experience! We completed the trail in 16 days, trekking through a stunning part of Australia. Since it was an escorted tour we carried only our day packs which made for a very enjoyable experience. At the end of each day we dined on a... More

First up. Have a reasonable level of fitness. This is an escorted hike and it is not walk on flat ground. Having completed Camino to Machu Picchu this is just just a stunning treasure in our backyard with the most passionate of hike leaders I have had the privilege of hiking with. It combines indigenous history with an awaking that... More

We walked the Larapinta Trail for 9 days as part of a World Expedition tour. This covered about two-thirds of the Larapinta Trail stages, arguably the more interesting sections. The scenery along the trail is quite spectacular but difficult to capture in photographs. Panorama shoots worked best for me. While this wasn't the hardest walk we've done (because we only... More

This Trail gives you the opportunity to hike through this area or as we did, travel to the different gorges and areas dotted along the Namatijira Drive. It was well worth spending time walking through The Standley Chasm and Ormiston Gorge, just to name a few. The photos do not do it justice. Certainly a place that needs to be... More

This walk was fantastic! We walked Section 4 to 6 over 5 days and it was one of the best multi day hikes I have done. The track was well marked, the shelters were well thought out and very comfortable and the surroundings were just breathtaking. If you need to have food drops or pick-up/drop-offs I would highly recommend the... More

My friends and I did a three day trip with Trek Larapinta and the experience outweighed our expectations. Our guide Holga was most knowledgeable and very experienced. The trek was just the right mix of challenge without being impossible and the camp provide appropriate simple comforts. It was great to see how respectfully Trek Larapinta managed camping in this pristine... More

Hello dccon, Thank you for taking the time to review your 3 day Trek Larapinta walking holiday and for awarding us 5 stars. As a company we take great pride in operating our treks with as little impact to the environment as possible. Using solar power to heat water and light our camps, as well as providing water-less composting toilets... More
