On our tour we stopped by this visitor centre to get an idea of outback education. After a short intros and a video we were allowed to watch a live teaching session that was being broadcast. It was very interesting. Donations are welcome so we bought a book for their lending library. All in all a very interesting stop!

Enjoyed this visit very much. Was interesting to see how the schooling of children living in remote areas is managed and the changes technology has made. Tour guide was very informed and well spoken. Bought the recipe book, enjoyed the humour within the pages

Very interesting to see where it began, and the way technology has improved the schooling for the outback children. It was very interesting being able to see the old radios first used and now the computerized classroom.

We visited the School of the Air during a brief stay in Alice Springs. We highly recommend visiting this amazing program. You can't appreciate this program until you have seen it in person. They have created a community out of a group of widely scattered and isolated school children. It is a TrueType remarkable program.

Provides a great insight into how the children of the outback get an education despite being spread across such a wide area. The centre provides a short film show which tells you all about the school as well as several exhibits. You can also watch a teacher in action in the studio.

This was a great place to visit even though it is tiny and out of the way. You actually watch classes in action and learn how they evolved from a radio based school to an internet based program. We were fortunate to essentially get a private tour from the director since it was quiet while she was there. Her passion... More
