The Rocks Discovery Museum is a free, family friendly museum which tells the story of The Rocks area of Sydney from pre-European days to the present. Housed in a restored 1850s sandstone warehouse, The Rocks Discovery Museum is home to a unique collection of images and archaeological artefacts found in The Rocks. The exhibits are filled with interactive fun, using touch screens, audio and visual elements to bring the history of the area alive.Learn about the area's traditional custodians, the establishment of the English colony and the time when sailors, whalers and traders made The Rocks their home; through to the 1970s union-led protests which preserved this unique part of Sydney for future generations to explore and enjoy.

The Rocks seem to have changed over the time it does not seem to have the same buzz of old. Many of the shops have changed hands and the goods on sale does not seem inviting to buy

This museum is a great stop if you haven't been on any historical tours through the city. It's interesting but covers a lot of the same things with pictures instead of actually walking around in it.

Excellent displays of artifacts relating to aboriginal and colonial history. There was much to be learned. The museum is not large, but it is well maintained and worth a visit.

Luckily The Rocks is one part of Sydney that hasn't succumbed totally to the modern world; you still get a sense of early Sydney history and this museum helps you understand the past and the changes over the years.

Must visit this museum for a great insight on the early history of Sydney. It has decent exhibits and very good videos about the Rocks area and its orignial aborignee inhabitants. The entry is free and there are a lot of eating places near it.

This is one of those places which I discovered just by accident rather than by intention. Located on one of the many narrow laneways in the Rocks, the museum is situated in a restored sandstone warehouse building. Entrance is free (10am-5pm), although a gold coin...More

The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and

Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi
