Wonderful to see a production at such an iconic place. Had champagne and cheese board in the Opera bar before the excellent performance, making it a night to remember.

The orchestra, the vocals, costumes were amazing. The sets were great but did not overpower the pure quality of the voices especially Violetta. The seats we had were the cheapest in the house and as such we did not have full view of the stage but I still enjoyed the show immensely due to the musical quality.

We have gone to operas in both the United States and Europe. No other venue matches the Sydney Opera House. Its external beauty is an iconic symbol of Sydney, but its internal design and vistas are even more impressive. Most important, the acoustics are among the best i have ever experienced. Sitting high up, I could hear every soft notes... More

Fantastic experience. Well worth the price. We saw La Traviata and it was superbly done, and the sets. music and singing outstanding. I never understood why people raved about Opera and were prepared to pay high prices for tickets. I do now. We sat in row J in the middle, which was close enough to see the expressions on the... We watched La Traviata last week. it was a beautiful performance: wonderful voices and music. The sets were spectacular. Comfortable theatre with subtitles - first time have seen that and it was really helpful to understand the whole story. Just going into the Opera House is an amazing experience. The interval drinks outside on the terrace were lovely - watching... More

We saw a very authentic and traditional performance of La Traviata. Wonderful singing and music from the full orchestra, majestic and beautiful sets that made you gasp when the curtain went up. Add to that interval drinks watching boats in the harbour. Fantastic and memorable evening.

How to visit Sydney without seeing any opera in Joan Sutherland Theatre? Impossible! During my stay in Sydney January 18-28, 2017, I was lucky to see three productions of the Opera Australia: Cav/Pag + Boheme + King Roger. The best was Cavalleria/ Pagliacci and that is because of clever, fresh, intelligent directing of this opera by Damiano Michieletto. Production of... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
