I didn't see anything particularly worthy at spit bridge as a location. It was merely the end of the 10k trail walk from manly beach. I took the manly ferry from circular quay (30 min), got on the walking trail just outside the ferry station (look for signposts with area map). Beginning of trail passes by a well groomed neighborhood... More

Try and avoid at any cost, the traffic is extremely annoying and if travelling that way please allow a lot of extra time, however the views are beautiful as are the beaches of the Spit Bridge.

So everyone knows this is a major pinch point for traffic made 1000 times worse by regularly opening to let tall masted boats through. I'm sure the insular peninsular kind of likes the fact that it keeps lowly southerners out of their exclusive haven. Having said all that, it's a pleasant thing to walk across and the northern end can... More

Some people seem to rate the walk to/from Manly here which is great, but the bridge was a huge disappointment. It is not beautiful or spectacular in any way, unless perhaps you have never seen a bridge open before.

It's a woefully inadequate transport artery. It opens at various times during the day - yay. However, the walk from here to Manly is beautiful, really beautiful (though not pet friendly the entire length), the restaurants on the Spit itself are all good. You can learn how to sail at the MHYC. Hire kayaks on the south western end of... More

If you want to see Sydney Harbour by foot, then this is the starting point. Catch a bus from the city to Manly. Get off at The Spit, go under the bridge and follow the track to Manly - well signposted. Gets a bit boggy after rain. Can be a little difficult but mostly easy. Reward yourself at Manly with... A major bottleneck when travelling between Sydney and the Northern Beaches. I have crossed the bridge hundreds of times but only recently been delayed by the opening. So looked it up on TA during the 4 minute delay and see it featured as a attraction! So here is my review!

This bridge is an important link between Sydney and the northern beaches area. It was opened in 1958 and is the only opening bridge on a major arterial road in NSW. You can walk across in either direction and enjoy the views over Middle Harbour and out to the heads. The bridge still opens at regular times to allow taller... More

The Spit has a few fine restaurants; you can also have sailing lessons for all ages. I have done the walk many times from the Spit to Manly, but enjoy it better the other way! It is quite a testing walk, where one needs to be reasonably fit. There are many wonderful lookouts, where one can see all the boats... More
