You might be satisfied simply reading the signage outside the cottage. Note the boundaries near the street denoting the original edge of the harbor before it extended out to where it is today. And if you do go inside, image what it must have been...More

Wikipedia tells us that "Cadman's Cottage is the second oldest surviving residential building in Sydney, Australia, having been built in 1816 for the use of the governmental coxswains and their crews". Oddly enough, the sign at the side of the building claims it to be...More

This former bosun's barrack house is an example of 'English convict' style There is not a lot to see, but if you are in The Rocks, it's worth a quick detour to see this

Not much to see but worth a look if you're in the Circular Quay area. There is a statue of Captain Bligh out the front and is a relic of the early colony.

So this is an old house in the Rocks area but it didn't seem to be very open or charming. There is a nice plot of garden right next to the house and its a nice place to sit on a summer's day.

Cadman's Cottage is the oldest surviving residential building in Australia and is exactly 200 years old. Nothing to see really apart from a refurbished and well maintained exterior and within walking distance of Circular Quay, The Rocks, The Opera House, The Overseas Passenger Terminal, etc.

One of the oldest building in Sydney and worth a visit to take some photos and to try to imagine what it was like in those early settlers days. Close to Circular Quay, so easily walkable.

The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and
sailors from the old nation. As the oldest
neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone
streets host more than 100 heritage sites and
buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney,
Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi
“ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the
waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The
