Top ways to experience Clovelly Beach and nearby attractions

The area
Neighbourhood: Coogee
Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs that does not have big waves, making it an excellent family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity footballers! A little further south is Wylie’s Baths, offering sweeping 180 degree views over the Pacific Ocean, and it is perfect for a swim or a few laps. Plenty of dining choices surround the beach, including the famous fish and chips.

Narrow beach, great for snorkeling and observing fish. Has lots of seaweed but is a very beautiful place so don't let that part stop you from visiting.

Compared to Coogee and Bronte beaches this is average. It’s small, lots of seaweed and concrete.

Lots of swimmers there too

The best place for snorkeling. Various fish. You can see the blue grouper.
I will visit again during my trip to Sydney. Fun memories.

This is an interesting narrow beach with concrete baths and walls (which detract from the natural beauty). Originally called Little Coogee it was renamed Clovelly in 1913 after a town in Devon UK.

Another nice beach that you encounter on your walk from Bondi to Coogee. Unlike the other beaches on this route, Clovelly Beach is quite protected from the rolling surf and therefore is a safer place for some relaxing swimming or snorkeling.

Like all the beaches I've encountered in this part of the world it was very clean, safety was a priority, and you can make use of restrooms, places to change, water fountains to quench your thirst, showers, picnic areas, places to have your BBQ - all free of charge. All very civilized.

I came on a murky Sunday afternoon, and it wasn't too busy. On a really hot day, I could imagine that it would get a lot busier.

Clovelly Beach is a narrow alcove between cliffs and man-made concrete walls and baths which detracts a little but it is interesting and relatively protected beach along this section of the coast between Coogee and Bondi.

Nice little spot to do some snorkelling or just swim, usually busy during summer, it has a nice big area to park your car, accessible also by bus from bondi Junction

Great beach depending on what you want. The pros; it’s more of a non sandy beach, so if you prefer not to get sand but still want to chill and dip in the water, this is for you. It’s family friendly, there’s a swimming pool for kids on the side and it’s very picturesque.

The cons; it gets very crowded, too crowded for my liking. Not ideal if you want some space & privacy. Not a lot of sand if you prefer that style of beach.

There’s a deep beach here with plenty of room for everyone. I’m not sure if it’s man made but this is fairly built up with concrete steps and ladders directly down into the sea. The water narrows coming into the beach and the swell and waves were quite high, I guess the locals are hardcore and experienced in these conditions compared to us wimpy city types! A gorgeous headland here with fab views and a small cafe with public conveniences. On the coastal walk from Coogee to Bondi, nice place to stop for a rest and admire the views.

This is not a overly crowded beach though it is quite accessible to the public. It has a nice curved in bay for younger tots to wade and play amid the gentle waves. There is also the lovely Seasalt Clovelly, a lovely place to have a bite or a cuppa.
