The Basement, over the years, has gone from being a pinnacle of live music excellence to a somewhat desperate commercial enterprise. But such is the nature of the short-term vision we have come to accept. Now its lease is up, The Basement will relocate. My...More

I always like the Basement and this time was no exception. Went for the live entertainment and Moussa Diakite and the Wassado, an African fusion blues reggae sound was brilliant.

I know it's one of the few dinner show places in Sydney but honestly. They cram the tables in so tightly that you're bumped by the waiters constantly. The AC can't cope with the number of people on warm evenings so we were all dripping...More

Went here recently for a concert and won’t be going back in a hurry. Firstly, music and actual venue were both great. The Basement is a Sydney institution. However, two things made the evening far less enjoyable. Firstly, one of the female bar staff was...More

Went for a Motown / disco tribute night - lots of fun! They offer pretty good live music most Saturdays and there's a great DJ after the live show. Food available at reasonable cost

Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with
energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise
buildings and after-work drink places, high-end
shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners
frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a
dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit
the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle,
reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens
