My first purchase from Rockhounds was in 2015, as the store was recommended to me by a native. The opals there are of the highest quality and are noticeably more reasonable than any other jewelry store in Sydney. Not only do they feature a wider...More

Good variety if prices, sizes and colors. Most are quite pricey though and I didn't see a lot of unique or 1 of a kind designs.

I've developed a small but well-loved collection of opals over the years, including stones mounted in jewelry from Victorian times, so I'm reasonably knowledgable about the differ types, mining locations, etc. This was my first trip to Australia, and -- while I knew I would...More

The opal is the national gemstone of Australia, so you can't help but notice all of the opal shops during your visit to Sydney -- lots of options for gifts and souvenirs. I did some comparison shopping, and found that Rockhounds offered the best price,...More

The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and
sailors from the old nation. As the oldest

buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney,
Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi
“ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the
waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The
