It's worth going to the Orpheum just for the architecture Everything from the ushers to the decor takes you back when "Going to the Movies" was a social event The program is electric but with real highlights such as the recent Hitchcock festival and David Stratton's choice of best English movies Another great feature is that it screens the Met... One of the last remaining picture palaces in all of Sydney which shows a range of films not just the usual mulpiflex fodder. There are a number of cinemas and interesting one offs such as director's nights which are a must.

I went with my cousin to watch a movie out of pure laziness at first, because I didn't want to go all the way into town. In the end, though, I'm glad I did. Awesome seating, great sound and authentic decor makes the experience worth every cent.

If you've never been to the Hayden Orpheum Theatres in Mosman, you've never truly been to the pictures. The glorious brass and velvet surroundings and the excellent staff, really make movies come to life!

It was a lovely surprise to find out this cinema was an art deco gem during the recent Sydney Film Festival. From the outside you get the sense that this is somewhere special and then the entry continues to charm. Fortunately our film was in the main cinema which I now understand is the original one. Full of art deco... More

My favourite cinema for classic movies - movies with a plot , character development and great acting in a wonderful setting. Service was a let down on this Saturday afternoon when the queue was snaking around the whole of the foyer - didn't understand till i got to the counter - only one person serving a huge crowd - nearly... We have been many times at the Orpheum and never experienced anything less than pefect. The decor is beautiful Art Deco, the ambiance is very pleasant and the audience is cultured, Our last visit was just as great as any other before, the movie was first class and tickets (for seniors) were quite affordable (less than $10).On our previous visit... My wife and I attended the meet and greet with Capt. Gene Cernan and were very disappointed that the theatre required me to navigated a multitude of steps to gain access to the event. As a stroke survivor this was extremely difficult and left me so exhausted that I had to leave the event at intermission. Having travelled from interstate... More

This theatre is well known by locals, and caters to an older crowd and cinema buffs with special events and organ recitals. It is quite a charming place for a movie with great eateries nearby (Japanese and Thai across Military RD) . Like many modern cinemas you can take in an alcoholic or other bev into the cimema. Parking in... More
