    Love the recent refurbishment
Central station sees about 12 long distance XPT/XPlorer railcar departures a day operated by NSW TrainLInk, plus numerous intercity electrics and a huge number of suburban trains. The Pyrmont/Dulwich Hill light rail departs from in front of the concourse while the much newer trams to the eastern suburbs depart from Chalmers Street/Eddy Avenue at street level. The recent refurbishment has really opened up the transfer from the country platforms to the suburban and Airport ones. It has been very well done: simple yet effective. Airport trains depart regularly and are far better than driving or enduring an horrendous bus trip. There are limited refreshment facilities on the concourse but many more eateries (rather basic) at street level. A Woolworths Metro is across the street from the Chalmers Street entrance.

    Old & New Blended
Been 12 months between visits and the finish of the new station works is pretty good. New changes to get used too but that will come with time & use! A very noticeable melding of the old sections of the station with the new and I think they have done a great job? Good to see the old WW1 Honour Rolls back on display on the concourse as well, history needs to be retained as well as remembered! When next in the city have a stroll around a world class main station. I've been to dozens and can safely state that Central Railway Station is up with the best!

    Majestic!
This is a magnificent, grand old station recently renovated. Well signposted and easy to navigate. We travelled on airport trains (to and from Central) as well as XPT Regional service to Bathurst. Beautiful station!!!

    Impressive big building
Beautiful big renovated building. Spacious and clean. Departure and Arrivals boards were easy to read. Handy floorplan maps of the station. Amenities were clean. Eternity Café was reserved for Indian Pacific pax (which we were one) and they provided delicious canapes and food. Bar staff were a bit hit and miss. The stained-glass windows were well done.

Combination of the Grand old building and the new modern
We came into Central on the overnight train from Melbourne and left from there a week later. A lovely grand old building on the Concourse level then you go down to the lower platforms which is very modern, easy to get lost when you first arrive, have not been there for about 30 years. There is a good information centre there and plenty of nice friendly staff who will soon direct you to where you want to go . There are a few information plaques / honour boards about significant people involved with the station and NSW RAILWAYS., good to read them. There is a luggage room and waiting room on platform one which is where we arrived and left from.. Good toilet facilities. One thing we found which was disappointing is the lack of eating venues at the station. There is a restaurant there but it closed at 6pm, a little coffee stall was closed as well, there was a small supermarket open and a vending machine, really not good enough for a major station, we had to go outside the station to get dinner before catching the night train to Melbourne. A comeplete contrast to Southern Cross Station Melbourne where there are soo many places to eat and drink. Also there is no wifi you can connect to at the station, surely in this day and age that is really old hat. Apart from that we were in and out of the station a lot during the week going to different suburbs of Sydney

Sydney Central railway station offers an amazing
experience for young and old. Not only is the historical shell of the old building beautiful in its architecture, but the inside rabbit warren of corridors and access
to connections all over this large metropolis and country destinations is an exciting adventure by itself.
For mothers with infants or kids and the elderly, travelators and lifts are available,
as well as friendly information staff found near main corridor junctions. For tourists
day tickets for all transport means and for the elderly concession passes are available
at the ticket counters. Don’t miss the fun of Sydney Central Railway station and make sure you choose the correct exit when alighting from your train. Enjoy!

Great interstate travel choice.
Booked in bags for XPT at Melbourne arrived at central the following morning bags were transferred to next service that afternoon to mid north coast XPT and for only $4.40 i could store my overnight bag in the luggage room on platform 1 while i explored darling harbour and Barangaroo. Caught the light rail back from circular quay after a ferry ride and picked up my bag ready to board my later xpt service and get a drink in the eternity cafe before boarding. Wonderful service.

My experience at Sydney Central Train Station is that they ignore complaints of harassment by customers against their own staff. I submitted a complaint against a male staff member, and they took his side, and labelled me as 'unreasonable'. I felt totally disrespected and badly treated by NSW Trains and Sydney Central Trains Management.

Central Station has slowly evolved over the decades that I have been through, and mostly for the good. The Grand Concourse, country platforms & beautiful century old sandstone sections meld well with the newer additions and are well worth a stroll around out of peak travel times! Have many good memories of catching XPT's, Mail Trains, Inter City Expresses and even the old 3801 Steam Train on special occasions. Next time you are in town, don't rush through but have a look around?? I've been to all the big train stations of Europe, Asia, UK & North America and Central compares favourably with all of them. I bet you see something new & enjoy it!

We went specifically for lunch on a weekday but the restaurant is closed to the public. This is a railway station so it could be expected that a restaurant would serve people at the station. Staff were rude when we tried to find out why the restaurant is closed.

Avoid the eateries in the Grand Concourse. They are over=priced and under-value. Take-away sandwiches and drinks are only available with card and then with a surcharge of some kind on top of advertised prices. Go downstairs to CJs for a rewarding experience.

Today, the cafe was actually open to the public! Twice previously, it has been closed for some private function. Whilst this is a 'dine in' cafe, my drink was supplied in a takeaway cup, and my snack in a paper bag. My 'fresh' snack was tough. When I questioned staff, the manager was curt and dismissive, although the person who served me, kind. I remember the pleasure of relaxing before or after a long train journey at the station cafe in the corner; what a sad replacement.

There is no prayer room in central station. Wish there can be one so that I could have prayer Magrib and Esha as I was taking interstate train. Long waiting hours. Management or Authorities need to change as this is a major tourist hub so keep the city in business need to make these changes.
