We visited the Government House during the Open Sydney event. We were able to visit the rooms and take pictures inside. There are usually guided tours, but on this day it was self guided, but plenty of knowledge staff on hand to answer any questions....More

The 45 minute guided tour at Government House is a real gem. Learn a little about the history of all of the Governors, see their portraits and coats of arms. A lovely Australian Heritage building in daily use, not a museum.

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit Government House as part of a delegation. A magnificent building housing some of the vice regal history of NSW set in beautiful grounds overlooking the harbour - what's not to like! Highly recommended!

Did not know what lay behind the gates of Government House. Was completely blown away by the majestic natives that adorn the harbour.

We were not sure what to expect, but came away very impressed. It helped that the Governor drove past as we arrived and gave us a wave! And we were there when the one o'clock gun went off. We were able to join the 1...More

This is the formal residence of the Governor of New South Wales (NSW) and is adjacent to the Royal Botanical Gardens. It would be easy to miss this site and even easier to be deterred by the fences that surround the residence. There are tours...More

On man, another amazing old building, just breathtakingly beautiful. Not that I would want to live there but oh so nice. We did not time our visit for the free tour but cruised about checking out what we could from the outside. It is awesome,...More

Tours go on the half hour and last 45 mins. Very interesting to see and learn about the present and past Governors. Tied this in with the Botanic gardens visit as very close by. Excellent guide.

Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with
energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise
buildings and after-work drink places, high-end
shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners
frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a
dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit
the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle,
reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens

There is no self guided tour, you have to go on the organised tour which from memory takes about an hour or two.
