Your host is Richard Everett, the only Oenologist (or winemaker) conducting a small group or private wine tour of the Hunter Valley Wine Country. His guests get a unique behind the scenes insight into how the best wines of the Hunter Valley are made, with private guided tastings of the top wines at the best & most interesting of the 140+ wineries. Richard conducts the wine tastings, not the sales staff at the wineries, so you are spared the heavy sales pitch of their commercial wines & get to experience many wines not offered to the general public. Morning tea is at the famous Peppers Guesthouse & lunch is at the award winning Muse Cafe. Tours are available ex Sydney or from within the Hunter Valley.

Funny, I'm not really a wine guy. Do I like it, yes. Are there some wines I like more than others? Sure. I been on several wine tastings in California ( for work), Finger Lake region of NY( my wife loves some of the lighter Rieslings) but both were focused on selling you their wine. "Taste them all and buy."... More

We booked a small group tour and were lucky that it ended up being a private tour. Richard was a great guide and displayed good knowledge of wine tasting and industry. We definitely learnt a lot about wines and what to look out for when purchasing wine in the future. The tour was well paced and we didn't feel overwhelmed-... More

Richard picked us up at our hotel in a very comfortable van. We shared the tour with 4 other people making a total of 6. The tour is an all day affair as it as approximately 2 hours from Sydney. The compelling aspect of the tour is Richard and his extensive experience in the Australian wine industry. He conducts all... More

From the pick up right at our hotel to getting dropped off, Richard filled the day with great discussion on wine. And the area too. Not just Australian wines, but the complete subject. Of course once we hit the winery, he got into teaching about his unique way on tasting wines. It was so much better than pouring samples and... More

Richard picked us up at our Airbnb, which was nice - we didn't have to worry about making our way to a hotel downtown. The tour group included 7 people, all very nice and pleasant. We really enjoyed talking to Richard and learning about the industry, the culture, and Australian wines. Morning coffee was at a cute little shop, can't... More

If you are serious (or even semi-serious) about wine, here is an opportunity you should not miss. After spending his entire life in the wine business as a winemaker as well as in the business of wine, I doubt you can find a more qualified person to take you on a tour of the Hunter Valley. He knows the history,... More

We booked this tour with Wine Country Tours and I am so glad that we made that decision. We were looking to spend a day in Hunter Valley at wineries, but we really just wanted to learn about (and taste!) wines from the region. We found other tours that I sure would have been nice, but we weren't interested in... More

During a two week visit to Sydney and NSW to visit our 28 year old son who is working in Sydney, my wife, my son, and I spent Sunday, February 5th with Richard on the Wine Country Tour. There are many tours to choose from; I chose Richard because of his expertise and personal attention. He conducted the tour from... More

My family participated Richard's Wine Country Tour on 23rd Dec. I supposed to write this a month ago. It was wonderful experience, we had great talk with Richard, and learned a lot, not only wine tasting, but living wisdom. The wine that suits you is the best!!! My family appreciated the experience, and Thanks Richard.
