Well this place has improved in its cleanliness and the food hall have much better quality and authentic dishes. I remember when it used to cater to aussies who were not appreciative of authentic cuisine it is very good now. The good shops have also improved with much better product and variety including the fresh food and mix of small... More

A giant market that sells everything from clothes, gadgets, fresh produce, and souvenirs. The latter of which is probably the cheapest we've found in all Australia. Head upstairs and you'll be in an outlet mall and to the top floor for a great food court with huge selection.

If you are looking for inexpensive souvenirs to bring home to family and friends this is where to buy them! Everything I purchased here was at least half the cost if not less what I saw in souvenirs shops in The Rocks and Circular Quay.

Known as Sydney's Chinatown precinct, typical market stalls products made in china. Cheap buys of all description. I have bought from here including leather bags to Bluetooth earphones for my iPhone. Best value for me is the fruit & vege's, fish and meat markets. Fresh and 30-50% cheaper than the major supermarkets. Good morning shopping. Only a walking distance to... More

It was suggested that I needed to visit the market so indeed I did. This is somewhere where you can get your tourist gifts but there is a whole lot more to it. There are stalls with everything from fruit and nuts to massages and Korean name sign writing. I came here a couple of times and spend about 2... More

Very cosmopolitan, boasting something for everyone, and who's to say they're not right? My only advice would be to do your homework & check prices before buying- "bargains " aren't always what they seem. Caveat Emptor. Great place to kill time on a dull day

A big indoor Market which is only open from Wednesday to Sunday Many Souvenirs, Handbags, clothing.... you name it they have it. We bought an I pad cover which was $30 cheaper as in a store. This is a great place for bargains highly to recommend Its located in China Town.

When a local described the market it sounded very familiar. Other cities around the world have similar markets with small booths crammed full of trinkets, clothing, souvenirs, and counterfeit branded products (although less of the latter than I'd seen in other cities). Great place to by beach towels, t-shirts, boomerangs, etc. Bring cash for negotiating.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Tiger-flanked archways on Dixon Street mark the entrance to the “little Asia” of Sydney. A walk through Chinatown is a feast for the senses where aromas, tastes, sounds and visions of dancing tigers transport you to a different world. Chinatown visitors can expect a melting pot of Asian food at the neighbourhood's specialty delis and groceries. From yum cha to handmade noodles, BBQ ducks hanging in the window to Asian sweets and bakeries, there is something for all tastes. Paddy’s Markets is the largest flea market in Sydney where you can find souvenirs, clothing, gifts and fruit and vegetables at unbeatable prices. At night, Chinatown comes alive with entertainment including theatre, nightclubs and bars that are open until the early morning.
