Beautiful beach without the 'overexposed' Bondi Beach glitz but more the feeling of a beach town casually having fun. We stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed just walking around (safe) either as a couple or with our extended family of 15 (ages 12-74). At one point it was the only beach that allowed alcohol (between 12-4) but sadly because... More

We arrived in Coogee Beach on Christmas Day only to find tens of thousands of people sloppy and drunk. Think Spring Break in Daytona. The partiers left over 15 tons of rubbish after the festivities. We stayed at Coogee Beach for two additional days but the lingering effects of Christmas tainted our enjoyment. The Beach is pretty but the water... More

Along the Bondi Beach seawall if you keep walking you will walk to Coogee - nice and just as lively as the rest of Bondi so if you are in to people watching and surfing - good one!

Rather than stay in the city, we chose Coogee. Beautiful views, beach, patrolled beach and protected. Heaps of great eating places and excellent bus service to the city or Bondi. About $35 by taxi from airport. Access to the beach walk to Bondi.

Coogee has been my favourite for man years. It is small, clean and family friendly. Surrounded by good cafes and restaurants. Currently there is some construction going on so perhaps better to avoid if you are planning a holiday on the beach.

This beach and area was one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. It is far, far superior to Bondi Beach- spend more time here before setting off on the walk up! The facilities are exceptional and the functionality of the area is so superior to what we have here in the UK.

We took a walk to this beach today from Clovelly. This is a lovely beach with some good facilities for volley ball and bbqs. It was a little crowded as it was a public holiday but the setting is nice with a small variety of cafes and bars nearby. The water was clear and it was good for swimming.

My favourite beach! Not many people know this but there is a woman's only bathing area protected by rocks. You can get your boobies out if you wish! I love that there are so many areas to picnic, the scenery, the rock pool, how it's easy to get to, the walk to bronte or Bondi and the fabulous Coogee pavilion.... More

As much as we all love Bondi, trying to find a parking spot is like trying to pogo stick up Everest. Coogee can be tough on searing summer days, but the Southern end offers parking relief, and an extra walk South up the hill reveals the jewel of Wylies baths( Sydneys prettiest ocean pool). Coogee caters for all ages, is... More

Staying in Coogee

Neighbourhood Profile
Coogee
Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs that does not have big waves, making it an excellent family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity footballers! A little further south is Wylie’s Baths, offering sweeping 180 degree views over the Pacific Ocean, and it is perfect for a swim or a few laps. Plenty of dining choices surround the beach, including the famous fish and chips.
