We strolled around the gardens for a short time on our arrival in Sydney. It was a beautiful introduction to a beautiful city. It was strange to see an ibis strolling casually around our feet, as you don't see many of those in England. There is a little train that does tours of the gardens, but we saved that for... More

We had only one day in Sydney due to a flight problem (thanks JetStar) and wanted to make the most of the time so we had an early start and walked through the gardens at 7am and it was just a lovely start to the day. The gardens are well tended and signage is informative and a lovely oasis in... More

I spent 2 days exploring the Royal Botanic Gardens, first walking through it with my husband, then running it the next day. I loved it so much, I couldn't stop running as there were always new trails to explore. Beautifully maintained and well worth the trip!

Most beautiful garden, overlooking the ocean near the famous opera house. The garden is celebrating 200 years in 2016. You need to spend one full day. Very relaxing views all over. Don't miss the smell train ride.

I never seen trees as big as that. It is amazing. Birds singing and walking in the middle of the path. It wouldn't be a real work ti wok every in this fantastic garden, it's simply a gift ...but seriously it certainly need a lot of care to obtain a paysage as nice as this garden. The Royal botanical garden... More

The garden is beautiful and large. With it being beside the harbour, it made it amazing. Great pictures and I would tell everyone to visit. I would spend everyday there reading if I could.

Downtown and near the Sydney Performing Arts Centre, this is a beautiful place for a long morning walk (or jog). My wife and I marvelled at the flowers, trees, birds and many lovely areas to sit and take it all in. There is a cafe for a beverage or food and a gift shop with items sure to delight any... More

I spent an hour walking around the gardens. They are beautifully kept and there are some amazing looking trees. When you walk down to the water you get a great view of the Opera House in front of the Harbour Bridge. And, the ground staff use a classic Mini Moke to transport tools and things around the gardens! Well worth... More

When I worked in the CBD a place I would often go to just unwind and eat a sandwich and have a coffee in the middle of the working day but also a place to go for picnics on the weekend. Generally the gates close around dusk however in summer when the open air cinema is operating you can take... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
