Lovely place at the tip of the land pointing out to the bay. The variety of the parts of the gardens and the very big old trees make this place amazing. Huge fig trees were my favourite. Don't hesitate to take a refreshment at the café in the heart of the garden. The ibis birds are everywhere like pigeons in... More

The Royal Botanic Garden is a great place to stroll through on a sunny day. It is tranquil and very relaxing and you can see it all while venturing to the Opera House. A very nice Botanic Garden well worth visiting.

Maybe not quite as impressive as Melbourne's Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney's Royal Botanic Garden is still a wonderful place to walk, see a huge variety of well-labelled plants and trees, and just escape from the frenetic pace of Sydney.

These botanical gardens are well worth a visit. Beautiful walk along the harbour edge. Some great specimen trees and shrubs. Very close to the City Centre and yet so peaceful

The entrance to these gardens is right next to The Sydney Opera House and it is free to get in. If you want more information there is a little train you can hop on ($10 per person) and you get a ride round and full commentary. If not it is great just to wander round, relax and enjoy the views... More

it is a short walk from the Sydney Opera house, and you can enter for free. there is a little 'train' you can ride, but that isn't free. lots of great opportunities for taking great photos, and it's a large area with many gardens, sculptures, and grassy areas. on the far side is Mrs Macquarie's chair, a large rock that... A short walk from Sydney Harbour this is a great place to get away from the crowds and to take a relaxing stroll through beautifully laid out gardens. Well worth a visit.

We visited the gardens twice in two days - first time, taking the low level walk around the gardens with the wonderful views of the harbour and Opera House, and second time, walking through the gardens themselves. This is a beautiful, well kept green space right in the heart of Sydney and free to access, with the best views of... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
