I don't get the hype - it's just another beach. I didn't find anything unique about it other than the walk to Coogee beach (see Bondi to Coogee walk on TripAdvisor)

Lovely place with an extraordinarily wide beach. Hard to park nearby, so be prepared to do public transport or take a walk.

Another iconic Sydney landmark that is well worth a visit is Bondi beach.. Clean plenty to do.. Place to eat and drink.. even a couple of markets on the day we visited.. Highly recommended for all the family..

I don't know when the calmest conditions are but my girls swam in mid June (which is their winter) and they didn't think it was cold.
