Lured by the signs painted on the path to be aware of the little blue penguins that live in the area this walk was a must for us. Alas, we did not see a penguin but the views across the ocean more than made up for this. It is a popular walk and there are plenty of places to stop... More

I would recommend if you are going in summer to pack swimmers+ a towel so that you have an opportunity to go for swim in one of the beaches along the way. Another possible idea is to take a picnic rug + picnic and spend an afternoon relaxing with friends or family. You can do as much or as little... More

Did the Spit Bridge to Manly Walk, took approximately 3 hours at a leisurely pace and lots of scenic platforms along the way to enjoy the view and take photos. I recommend taking a picnic, best views in Sydney.

This is a long walk - you can split it up. We did Balgowlah to Manly - good segment of the walk and nice harbor scenery.

I'm glad I spent a whole day for this amazing walk. Time consuming, yes, but it was worth it. At first I was afraid I couldn't finish the whole way and at some points was thinking of jumping on a bus to go back in the middle of the way, but in the end it was very satisfying to complete... More

You will enjoy stunning bushland, gorgeous Sydney sandstones, beautiful ferns, aboriginal carvings, beautiful bays and the views are just stunning. Plus plenty more. Opened in 1988 this 10km walk will take 3 to 4 hours. A reasonable level of fitness is required and wear good walking shoes, take plenty of water and avoid the heat of the day in summer.... More

The tourist office in Manly gave us the route map, and recommended the coffee kiosk nearby for sandwiches to take with us on the walk. We took about 3 hours to Spit, from where we took the bus back. A great walk.

Staying in Manly

Neighbourhood Profile
Manly
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
