This is another very pleasant coastal walk but a little longer and harder than the Bondi one. It's got more stairs and climb and is occasionally on trails as well as being a fair bit longer if you go from Manly to the spit. Fewer people on it, some nice views and very enjoyable. Much quicker to take trhe bus... More

The walk starts very close to the Manly wharf and is dotted by bungalows on the one side and deep blue ocean on the other. There are plenty of excellent photo opportunities. The complete walk is 4 kms with plenty of entry and exit points. However, if you are reliant on public transport, make sure you exit at a point... More

It's incredible to think that you can enjoy this beauty while being in the city, for free, and without any "commercial distractions" like coffee places and unwanted amenities. My boyfriend and I took a bit more than 3 hours for the 10 km. Good walking pace, but we stopped from time to time for pictures and water. I would say that... More

We were visiting Sydney and walked across from Manly Beach to Shelly Beach and found this section of the Manly Scenic Walkway. The views were very special and the native bush lovely. Now that we know you can go all the way to the Spit we shall certainly return.

Walked the Manley Scenic Walkway to Shelly beach . Great walk, stopped at gift shop and cafe along the way. Swam in the calm water at Shelly beach. Water so clear it was easy to spot fish around our feet. Changing area just off the beach.

This was a beautiful walk, even in the rain. Would very much recommend as the sights are beautiful. The path is well done. There is a beach section that can be walked when the tide is out but our timing was wrong so we stayed on the path. Very, very enjoyable.

Wander off the path and relax in solitude. The views from the off-path are absolutely fantastic and you can spend a great time here.

I've done lots of walks in cities around the world and this is up there among the best. You would not believe it is in the heart of Sydney. Approx. 11kms through bushland with spectacular views of the city, the Heads, beaches, bush and suburbs. Busy on a public holiday but everyone was courteous and made way for those travelling... This is an excellent walk around the harbour from Manly to the Spit Bridge. I'd recommend this for the sights of the harbour, lush bush scenes and a healthy way to spend a few hours. The walk isn't that difficult if you take your time there are places to stop for a rest if required, even just to take in... More

Staying in Manly

Neighbourhood Profile
Manly
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
