Address
Neighbourhood: The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.

Place is fraud went on a SATURDAY NIGHT. Charged us 30 to get in and told they close at 3am and we would be allowed re entry. Came back at 1:45am and was told they stop letting people in at 1:30am. Kind of garbage for how much staff they have. Especially since they are so big and macho, they shouldn’t have a problem clearing the place in 20 minutes max. Should have read these reviews before hand. When asking for an explanation dude was an L as well. If you are traveling, Melbourne is much more friendly. Sydney is cool, but not this place.

Booked tickets to The Argyle for NYE. We made our way to the club after watching the fireworks and so didn’t arrive until 1:30AM. On presenting our tickets we were told that there was no more entry into the club and were simply told to F**K off by the staff, we then watched them close the gates in front of us. What club shuts at 1:30AM on NYE?!?!This would have been fine had we known, but when we booked the tickets the only info given regarding timings was that the club shuts at 3AM - to me this is the time entry would be denied. We paid over $400 for 4 tickets for the NYE special and have still not received a penny of this back . We’ve emailed The Argyle directly and heard nothing. Don’t book tickets to this club. Be warned.

Enjoyed an afternoon here having a few drinks. Lots of staff on hand - clearing tables and serving behind the bar. Shame about plastic cups but understandable.

We visited as a group of 5, family and friends all responsible adults. My friend was asked to leave because she stumbled once while wearing high hills! This was the most ridicules reason to ask some one to leave the venue and we were just there for 10 mins. We were asked to get our money back and the woman in charge with the rudest behavior thrown our money back at us while she was aggressive towards us!

I am very sorry for Argyle management to let this behavior continues and actually it’s getting worse year by year!

We arrived at 5 PM on a Thursday evening right as they opened. This bar/restaurant had a doorman confirming if we had a reservation as all of the tables had been pre-reserved. Luckily, we just wanted to have a few drinks and were allowed to sit in the open air courtyard and walk up to the bar to order. Their happy hour (5-7pm) had quite a few drink selections priced at $5 which we thought was a nice value.

Only go if you want bad vibes and your night to be ruined. I had a bad first experience and decided to give it another chance. Security guards are rude and disrespectful for no reason. They will try to intimidate you due to their power complex. Security guards are aggressive even towards women who have basic questions like "where does the line start". There are so many better clubs and bar to go to where you can have a more enjoyable night. I wouldn't recommend anyone going here.

Not worth $35 entry fee either.

The Argyle... Wow! We took my now adult kids to the Argyle and what an amazing place. The venue is large with both seating inside and out.

The majority of music was good, some however was just too loud and stuff I'd never heard or could understand (maybe I'm showing my age).

We didn't eat there but saw the staff bring out heaps of pizza's which looked great.

The drinks were well priced during there happy hour but prices sure went up after that was over.

The toilets were the big disappointment for the venue, the line for both mens and women's toilets were 20 people deep. There is a section of a few toilets for females only, then the same on the other side which were unisex, then a urinal in the back corner which I didn't see any signs for and that you wouldn't know about it you were a regular. The hotels were kind of horrible and I'm not sure how often they get cleaned but I guess with the number of patrons this place holds its not unexpected.

My kids had a ball, dancing and having a few drinks and we didn't see any trouble at all which again is expected with the number of security working, which was good to see, although it did appear that if you were a footballer there was clearly more leeway in relation to the rules then the average person.

Would I go back to the Argyle... No! but both my kids said they would go back in a heart beat so I guess this place is well and truly for the younger generation on a regular basis but also for everyone just for the experience.

Iconic obviously. but you’re probably not going to get in if you don’t know someone. Glad we had Club Bookers to reserve a VIP table and our nightout went well!
