This was my first first to the Carriageworks, we went to see a production by the Sydney Dance Company. What a wonderful conversion of an old industrial site into an amazing performance space. The size of the complex is amazing and I loved the use of old support structures. Will definitely be back probably to the markets and other events.

First of all, it's not really a museum/gallery/theatre(do make sure you list it under the right category!) as it doesn't display anything on a regular basis. Takes forever to walk there, as there is no public transport nor car park, once you get there you see nothing special. Occasion they run events, but for some reason, they ALWAYS run very... More

Pick a great day to head to Carriageworks. Black markets, regular markets and Nick Caves horses. Fantastic indigenous art. Sooooo interesting to see age old traditions carried on. The fresh food stalls and produce was varied. All round a good day out.

Lot's of things happen here, from farmers markets to selected launches and functions. Also some nice restaurants and cafes within the area. Easy walk from redfern rail station.

We buy the bullet and headed into Carraigeworks, expecting a bun fight and we got one. We lined up for 45 minutes to get in to be offered the pleasure to line up for similar stints to get food. While the restaurants represented were impressive, getting poorly prepared versions of their dishes on paper plates was not. We had a... More

Superb setting for a market in the original train carriage sheds. Interesting, varied stalls with a terrific selection of fresh produce, breads & pastries, cheese, butter, coffee and cafe stalls.

The reason for CarriageWorks being here is that it is frequently a venue for the arts: music, dance, theatre and exhibitions. The Sydney Biennale currently is on and "Vivid" will follow. There is a full programme of dance and drama. But as a local, what I think of is the Saturday morning markets when the best of the best is... More

Carriageworks is the name of the general precinct but there are different functions to its different parts. The entire places takes its name and decor from its history as the Railways of New South Wales workshop, where carriages and other rolling stock were built and serviced. It harkens to a time when we in Australia actually built things: it's rare... More
