We took the ferry to the Taronga Zoo from the Circular Quay. The trip took 12 minutes and the ferry runs on a regular frequency. Make sure you purchase an Opal card to pay for the fare. Opal cards are available near Pier 6 in the Circular Quay. The ferries also are an inexpensive way to take a harbor cruise.

We took the ferry to Paramatta from Circular Quay, for a pleasure trip. It was approximately an hour each way trip, enabling us to have a cheap leisure cruise. Check the times of the return ferries from Paramatta as they only run about once an hour

Take the ferry to Manly from Circular Quay, easy cheap way to get out on the harbour, sit inside or outside and get water views of the most beautiful harbour in Australia. Stop off and Manly, for a coffee, ice cream or lunch and return again at your leisure.

We used Sydney Ferries to get. From Circular Quay to Darling Harbour. The automated card ticketing system was easy to arrange and there was a very friendly assistant to help if you got stuck. The timetables are clearly listed on the boards at each dock and you hardly had to wait for the next ferry to arrive. Ferry staff were... More

Went to Manly this Sunday & the ferry was quite busy. I have also been on other ferry routes just for the ride. It would be the best & cheapest way to see Sydney Harbour.

Whether for commuting, sight-seeing or touring, there is nothing so relaxing as being on the sea in a boat. And when you don't have to steer, navigate or feed the engine, you can really relax. There are covered and open areas; so you can cope with almost any weather. The seating is broad enough for most families. From Circular Quay... More

Cruising the harbour by ferry would have to be my top tip for tourists visiting Sydney, but I have to say that as a lifetime resident, I never tire of it either. Make Circular Quay your base, and purchase an Opal transport card to get the greatest flexibility and best prices. I also suggest downloading the excellent TripView app onto... More
